Final tips from me

Some of these are a repost from last year.

1. Apply for the Kohl's charge.

In some states, it's interest free for life. You can spend on it and then instantly pay it off right there at the register. You save 12 times a year just for using it. It takes less time than to write a check to fill out an application. (I've told customers to time me, it's seriously less than 2 minutes). You don't have to ever carry it with you; we can look it up in 30 seconds. Also? If you apply, whether you're approved or not, you'll still save 15% off your total.

2. Get to know your Beauty Associate.

Our Beauty Specialists are not on commission. All four of our main makeup lines are a division of the Estee Lauder family. (American Beauty=Estee Lauder, Flirt=Mac, Good Skin=Clinique, Grassroots=Orgins: all Estee Lauder banners). Guys: some Beauty associates will even gift-wrap your Beauty purchases for you (depends on the store manager).

3. Be nice to us, and we'll be nice to you.

:)

4. If you see a shoplifter, report it.

Trust me, we make it worth it.

5. If you come in at 7am and all the digital cameras are gone...

Go right to Men's (generally least busy) and ask the associate to call another store. Don't go to customer service. By the time you wade through lines, no one will have them.

6. Don't ask Jewelry to ring up your huge cartful of items.

This varies by store. We can't say no, but that means every customer waiting for us to finish with you will treat us horribly after you leave because they're annoyed at the added wait. Of course, if you're buying locked-case jewelry and you have less than 5 items, we probably won't mind. But jewelry is not a cash station spot or a non-jewelry express line, and associates will appreciate customers being courteous to each other. It's Black Friday, there's lines everywhere.

7. Buying online? Join the email list.

You can unsubscribe at any time. Your first email will have a code for 10% off, on top of other sales prices. Also, it's kinda handy.

8. Not all stores do price adjustments.

Bring in your receipt and try your luck. My store will do it if it's a reasonable amount of items, other associates posting here have said theirs don't at all. Bottom line is that Black Friday sale prices are advertised as taking time during a certain time period, and associates are under no obligation to make exceptions. Also, if you want the early bird prices, come during that time period.

9. Price Matching:

It might also vary by store, but company-wide we haven't been told we can't price match. If you want to try, bring in the ad and know the item has to be absolutely identical. We had a customer trying to get The Princess Dairies 2 last year for I think Walmart's TPD 1 price. Another one wanted a slightly larger crock pot for our grocery store's small crock pot price. Paying attention to details will make it fast for everyone.

PS:

Not all fine jewelry is locked. Some are on tables. The location guide refers to most stores, but still, do not waste time in line at jewelry for these, they'll turn you away.

Between mens and jewelry: The 1/10 caret diamonds, gemstone sets, plain sterling silver

By Misses registers: diamond accent and gemstone jewelry

And don't forget this handy receipt reprint for rebates reminder from one of my fellow associates.

If you have any last minute questions, I'll be up for a little longer. Otherwise, maybe I'll see you tomorrow at 3:45am sharp!

Thank you so much for all your help and excellent tips. I have a question, do you know where in your store the Portable DVD player is going to be? I'm just curious where they put stuff like that since they don't have an electronics department.

Thanks again and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Should be right by the doors as you come in, or in the little nooks in front of the men's registers. My store has over a hundred of these!

Happy Thanksgiving to you. :)

Crock pots: I checked that myself since it's on my list! My store and the store closest both have about 15. They'll be with the rest of housewares.

Edit: The down comforters are with the rest of bedding, mostly in the aisle in special display boxes right by the sample bed with the multiple white comforters. Those are super limited and were shipped just for this sale, I doubt there's a dozen for each bed size.

It's a Rival 7qt oval-shaped one, and one of those is so mine! They're 19.99 with a $10 mail-in rebate, which works out to $10 for a huge crock pot. Awesome.

There's also a Presto Griddle, Mr. Coffee 12 cup coffeemaker, Crush Master blender, and Black and Decker skillet with that same deal. Page 10 in the huge ad book.

All right, good night. I'll answer final questions before heading out for work when I wake up.

If I was able to help anyone personally, I would be grateful if you showed your thanks to any associate you may meet as you shop. Good luck and happy black Friday!
