Can anyone recommend a good vacuum that may be on sale on BF? I am looking to spend under $100, and preferably a bagless. I have a dirt devil, and it didn't even last a year. Before that I had a hoover and same problem Both were under $75. We have pets and lots of pet hair, so something powerful would be best. TIA! :D

I have a eureka boss, I have had it for 2 years possibly 3 I forget, but this is the first one I have had last longer than 1 year and I always get eureka. One thing I have did differently is keep the filter clean, SO takes it to work and blows it out with a air thing.

 

If I was in the market I would consider Eureka UNO Bagless Vacuum @ target or Kenmore Sytlite Retax Bagless Vacuum @ sears

STAY AWAY from Dirt Devils. They all suck (or, then again, maybe they don't), Anyway, dirt devils are terrible. One started shocking me after only a month of use.

 

We have a hoover, and it works very well. Sears brands/kenmore are usually pretty good, too, although I don't know how much they cost.

I just bought my first Dirt Devil and I love it. Though I can't give much feedback as I have only owned it for about 2 months.

 

Which ones in particular are you considering? What specs do you want/need in the vacuum? For instance, must have long hose, or rotating brush to attach to hose, certain amps, etc.

STAY AWAY from Dirt Devils.

I sold vacuums door to door for nearly a year and I can say with full confidence that Dirt Devils are flat out the *worst* upright available. I always smiled inside when I found out people had one while doing a demo in their home. Everyone loved their's until I showed them all the dirt it left behind. That's the thing with vacuum cleaners. They all seem to to pick up the dirt since they leave vacuum marks, but some do a much better job than others.

 

You don't have to take my word for it though, take Consumer Reports instead. Since not everyone is CR subscriber I'll share their 11/2007 findings below. The picks are sorted best to worst and you'll notice there isn't a DD in the top 40 (maybe even 50 but I stopped counting :o):

what about the black friday Traget vacum Eureka UNO bagless ~ Ever heard of it or the kmart vacum in todays add Kenmore Quigk Clean Bagless? Are those listed in consumer reports? I couldn't find them on the list you posted. That was very nice of you to post that! I want to spend $75 or less. The hoover widepathe is on backoreder from Best Buy otherwise I would have that one.

I bought the BF Eureka Uno from Target for 64.00. Pulled it out of the box and put it together. Ran it just over my living room and we couldn't believe all the crap it pulled out of the carpet!!! I didn't put any carpet fresh down or anything...just ran the vacuum...GROSS! It pulled OLD carpet fresh and dirt and fuzz and hair from the carpet that my Oreck XL must not be getting at all. My mil used to use carpet fresh all the time when she vacuumed here before we took over the payments and moved in. It has great suction power! I love the little power brush that comes with it that you put on the hose..I vacuumed the couch and under all the cushions and it did a great job! I love it better than my Oreck!
