  1. Thanksgiving, Kmart is offering buy one get one free on select boardgames. Additionally, Hasbro is offering rebates in the form of a visa debit card for several of the games. (I was able to pick up a slip right at my local K-mart, they had a ton the toy section. Momory and Cootie are both 7.99, so that will be $4 each (2 for 8). Then, hasbro is giving $2 rebate for each of these games, bringing the price down to $2 per game. There are 13 games to pick from for the rebate, with a total rebate of up to 31 dollars (although only some of the games fall under the BOGO, all other board games are 20% off). Even if you don't have children, this would be a great opportunity to purchase some toys to donate to toys for tots. The games listed on the rebate form include: Ants In the Pants Cootie * Don't Break the Ice Don't Spill the Beans Chutes & Ladders * Hi Ho Cherrio * Original Memory * Candy Land * Buckaroo Lucky Ducks Elefun Hungry Hippos * Whac-A-Mole * included in BOGO - Ants in the Pants, Don't Break the Ice, and Don't spill the beans MAY be included in BOGO - as they are Cootie games
  2. My sister called our store, and the manager said that the stores were told not to accept them. However, the word didn't get around to all of the cashiers yet! ;-) Therefore, you can try to use it and see if your cashier will allow it. I used print outs the other day on a few smaller items I wanted. (A bath robe and a bed in a bag).
  3. Be careful with plasma. I have heard of alot of people suffering from burn in on the screens, even if they don't play video games. Alot of channels now have their logo on the bottom corners of the screen. If you leave a channel on for a couple of hours with the logo on, the logo will burn into the set. LCD is your best bet. BTW, I just bought a projection set. 50" for $899 (the same one in HHGreggs BF add). The only issue with a projection is that the bulbs can burn out after 8000 hours of use. I bought the 5 year service plan/warrenty for $200, and it covers the cost of every lightbulb I may blow out for the next 5 years! (Otherwise, the bulbs retail around $250). I am also covered for anything else that could go wrong with the tv, and I really like the picture on it. It is not blurry on fast moving sports games like the LCDs were.
  4. STAY AWAY from Dirt Devils. They all suck (or, then again, maybe they don't), Anyway, dirt devils are terrible. One started shocking me after only a month of use. We have a hoover, and it works very well. Sears brands/kenmore are usually pretty good, too, although I don't know how much they cost.
  5. Last year, as long as you were in line 1 hour prior to opening, you could pretty much guarantee anything you wanted. If you are going for the highest/most desired item, 2 hours should be plenty. I will say that last year the line started getting longer earlier. I used to be able to sit in my car until a half hour or 20 minutes before the store opened, and still got what I want. Actually had to freeze my tail off in line for an hour last year! LOL. Better than waiting 10 hours at BB or 12 Hours at Wal Mart though!
  6. LCDs cost a little more, but are definately the better of the 2 choices. Plasmas suffer from burn in on the screen, and tend to die out faster than LCDs do. Projection TVs are good too, (and have a better picture, IMHO), you just have to watch out for bulb burnout. The bulbs can be replaced though, but they are costly. I just purchased a 50" Projection TV from HHGregg for $900 (the same on in their Day after Thanksgiving ad), and added on the $200 5 year guarantee. This covers the replacement of any bulbs that may burn out over the course of 5 years, plus anything else that may happen.
  7. I have done staples easy rebates, and also never recieved any spam from them. The online submission was super easy to do. Although it usually takes a while for them to send your check, I have always gotten my rebates. I shop there almost every year on BF and have never had a problem.
  8. I bought a projection TV from HH gregg just recently. The ONLY drawback to a projection tv is that the light bulbs can burn out (after about 8000 hours use) and need to be replaced for abou $250 each. However, I purchased the 5 year warranty at HH Gregg, for $200, which includes replacement of bulbs for up to 5 years, however many are needed. If this tv will be on alot, you may want to consider adding on the guarantee. I personally liked the picture of a projection TV better than LCDs and Plasma. It works alot better when watching faster moving pictures, like sports. (The only way to get an LCD NOT to show blurry is by having a really fast refresh rate, which you can only get on the top of the line TVs over $2500. If you are looking for a large screen, projection is your best bet. (Just make sure that BB covers light bulb replacement in their guarantee if you plan on using the tv alot.) The average projection bulb will last for 5 years, if the TV is used for 4 hours per day. 8 hours of daily watching brings that down to 2.5 years. But for that size screen, even if you had to buy a bulb, you still can't beat the price.
  9. OK, I have never done a BF shop at a large store like CC (only staples and office max), anyway, I am interested in one of the TVs that will be on sale. What time should I get in line to guarantee an item? Thanks. Fortunately, there are several different wide screens on sale this year, so hopefully that will disperse a little bit, allowing a better chance of getting the one I want.
