  1. 1. Will you be buying a digital photo frame this year? (for yourself or others)

    • I already have enough of them, so *NO*.
    • I have *NO* plans on buying one.
    • I plan to only buy one for MYSELF.
    • I plan to only buy one (or more) for OTHERS.
    • I plan to buy one for MYSELF and for OTHERS as a gift.
    • I don't like pictures.

My goodness -- are these things really that popular? I mean everyone, even Pep Boys, has at least one digital photo frame in their ad (some seem to have 3+, including keychain versions).

I would like to get one for my sister and my mother.

My sister loves to take pictures of her son and I think this would be a wonderful way for her to view her favorites while she at work.

My sister only told me about two days ago that she was interested in having one of these. The apartment she lives in has stucco walls so it's very difficult or next to impossible to simply hang pictures and art on the walls, so she wants something to display all the pictures she has on her digital camera and laptop.

The one at Target for 50 bucks seems pretty cool. I know it's only the Trutech brand, but if she really likes it and actually uses it we can always buy her a better one. Btw, how do these things work? Does she have to put her memory card from her camera in the frame or what exactly?

Typically, they'll have some memory built into the frame, enough for say 12 pictures.

They'll also typically have a digital card reader -- it's a great way to put those smaller digital cards that you've upgraded from to good use. You know, when your new camera "comes with" a 16mb or 32mb memory card and you put that asside and by a 1GB or 2GB memory card.

Well, now you have a use for those smaller cards.

I bought one on sale for about $45 about a month ago... I see in the ads now they are marked at about $50, so I guess the deal I found was okay!!! :)

If I find a good enough deal ($50 IMO is not a good enough deal) - then I will be getting one for my dad as well as my FIL and possibly my grandparents. :) I have one and I like it!

Yeah, I am looking at getting one for my grandparents, so they can put their pictures on there from their Ireland and Thailand trips that they have recently taken. I may look to put on in my office, too.

I see others have asked the same question I was thinking.

Reviews on these??

A good deal isn't a good deal if the quality is poor.

Anybody want to share their experiences with these?

Prices all seem to be "off brands". It'll be hit-or-miss to find reviews. You could try Googling for the model number plus the word review.

No plans to buy one, but I'd like one. I will probably get one in a few years if the price on them keeps dropping like it did from last year to this year.

Yeah, I remember prices being $129 - $199 last BF.

I did try CR. Their ratings report was done a year ago. Showing the smaller 3frames scoring very poorly. The larger 3 scored ok. But I figured there must be some improvement in them since then. So I was wonder if anybody has or has seen a particular brand and can comment.

I am interested in buying for gifts. Would save me a ton on picture purchases :yup: , as all the extended family seems to want 8 X 10's of my kids when I buy pictures.

I did some research on these, as we are getting two for family members this Christmas. I went to Amazon.com and read lots of reviews. They had a decent deal on the Phillips 7 inch a while back, and there were about 250 reviews with 4+stars so we got that one. I have recieved them, but haven't taken them out of the boxes yet. We have to buy a little earlier than most people because we are delivering presents to my family on Thanksgiving, or I would have waited for a BF deal. I would say to try Amazon. They have lots of reviews and people seem to be very honest.
