redgssports Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 our new super walmart opened today, it is over 115,000 sq feet larger than our old one. well looks like i have to go every day from now til bf to figure out where everything is lol!!!
RaineeDay1 Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 the trouble with new WM is that they NEVER seem to have the stock as the old ones. It takes FOREVER for them to get the things the other stores have. They told me its because they have not been worked into the systems properly. It takes months for the kinnks to get worked out
redgssports Posted November 7, 2007 Author Posted November 7, 2007 great, this ought to be fun this year. they have been in there stocking the place for the last 2 1/2 months. i have a relative that works there and she is going nuts. so many more items
samisma Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 does your new wm have a crafts/sewing sections? they just built a wm near us and there's no sewing, crafts aisle. i walked around like an idiot for about 40 minutes trying to find the fabric.
Aaron Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 samisma, our old Wal-Mart had a HUGE craft/sewing section but when they closed it to rebuild the new Super Wal-Mart they opened another one and it didn't have ANY sewing/crafts section.
Guest nightlily Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 an employee told me some time back that walmart is phasing out the fabric section, and reducing the craft/sewing section and replacing it with bigger party supply section. I don't like it either!
redgssports Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 actually not all the walmarts are phasing it out. there is one in middlefield ohio, which is right in the center of amish country, many amish go there. that super walmart is keeping all their material and sewing items. i think they are one of the few
amberjobryant Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 what no fabric????????we are getting a new one here to be built next year and the old one is the only place in town to buy craft supplies surely they won't get rid of that section???
samisma Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 oh no. they can't get rid of fabric. it's really not worth the drive to price match if i can't get the fabric for me with the money i save. it's bad enough that a lot of the craft stores don't carry fabric & sewing supplies.. but if walmart gets rid of them i'll have no reason to go there - i can PM at other grocery stores.
hbopper Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 We got a new one about 30 minutes away back in july. We asked about the fabric/crat being reduced from the old store. Were told the employees waited to keep it but it was being faded out and the only way to keep it was enough people call 1800 Walmart and complain.

It takes months for the kinnks to get worked outThat is very true! The manager here had the same tale of woe to tell. When walmart had the special sale on the laptops, hd players, and other items recently, our local walmart had none of these items, due to this routing problem with the store's SKU.
amdskip Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Fabrics is being elminated/reduced where possible because it is a service department meaning it requires a human to cut material. Walmart does not care about providing service, they just want to stock items and move them out the front door. Some items do take longer for a new store to get but it depends if they are a warehouse or assembly item. Warehouse means it will come straight from the warehouse and there should be no delay. Assembly comes from the manufacturer to the warehouse and then to the store.
