Hi Everyone, Our local Walmart just re-built a new building and is now a SuperWalmart. I have always just got at 5:00am to Walmart to get all the great deals, but I was wondering if SuperWalmarts do things differently? What if they are 24hr. will doorbusters be at 12:01? Or do they all keep the 5 am opening the same? Thanks for the info. This site is great!!!

Last year I went to one in a town next to us. They stayed opened all night, but we couldn't get any of the sales items until the sale started at 5am.

I have heard that some Super Walmarts are different so it is a YMMV type of thing. We just shopped for things we wanted to PM while we waited for them to remove the wrappings off of the sale items.

last year our super walmarts didnt start the sale until 5am. but we were able to get in line the night before (inside--which is nice compared to waiting outside in the cold..) at 930pm--and yes we were first, but i wouldnt have done it any other way considering they only had a handful of the tvs , and the computers they only had four....

we are planning on doing the same thing this year so i hope they have some good bargains!:D

Depends on the manager. The new Super Center near me that opened about 3 years ago closes at about 1 in the morning and opens at 5 am but most stay open so I would say call the store and ask and make sure you call a few times because I was told that first year that they would be open all night and when my mom and I arrived the doors where shut and a line had formed. So call a few times.

depends on the store. Some stay open all night others close the doors. I normally go to the one that stays open all night and walk around scout out the items I want a wait till 5, and im out the door asap. I have all my other price match items in cart already :)

All the super walmarts that I have dealt with stayed open all night. They put the doorbuster items on pallets and had them wrapped securely. If you get there early enough you will be able to watch them wrapping the pallets. (Last year I went about 2:00 am) The year before it was about 3:30 am and the pallets were wrapped securely. I went searching for anything else that I was wanting as I haven't had items that were total stand in line items. If you are getting anything electronic though plan on going back to electronics early so that you are in the vacinity as in some of the stores the isles are narrow and it gets down right ugly.

Our Wally decided to move all the big ticket electronics up front so they could guard them.. Folks were assigned seats for each item on a first-come, first-serve basis. Then you had to keep your seat or else someone could take it.

The only item that really required coming in the night before to get was the projection TV. The $125 computer tower was a pretty good draw, too. Those seats filled up just before the rush hit. 40" TV had seats unfilled when the rush began. There were still 26" HDTVs at 11am.

Apparently these things are up to the store manager. But, our local manager got his fill of disorganization the first year, and everything since has been very regimented for the big ticket stuff.

Our 24 hour Walmart allows you to put certain items in your cart but no check-out till 5am. I usually get there by 1am and gather the toy items/clothing, etc. Only things they make you wait for is the electronics, games, etc. I go early just to gather all my price-match items.

Ours opened I think like at 1 or 2am BF morning. You were able to walk through the store and scout out your spots next to the pallets. If you talked to the employees, they would tell you what was hiding under each wrapped pallet so you were directed to the correct location for 5am. They have had the TVs and other major electronics down near the back of the grocery section the last couple of years because the middle aisle is bigger than the electronics area.

They built a SWM 5 mins from me. Last year I went at midnight. went in found my price match items and waited for teh good stuff at 5am. LOVED it. Nice warm store. No fights. The store was almost empty at 5am. everyone was at BB. it was strange NOT to see WM being the busiest in town last year..

Ours does the same thing. One year we were actually out of the store by 5:15

  • 2 weeks later...
our Superwalmart was open last year so we got there at 2a.m. and walked the store for other things we needed that weren't specials and then we scoped out all teh places we needed to be to get the specials,..but about 4a.m. it started getting crazy,..people cutting into the shrink wrap and taking early BF specials,..I dont think the manager cared except for the d.v.d's and he had all the big ticket merchandise in the back and he gave out tags for them,..

Sounds like me. I was first in line at one of the check-outs. Cashier was great. Price matched all my items and got me out of there quickly. I was in the car by 5:20am and in route to Target. It was funny because they built this new Target right by this Walmart and when I got there, there was only a few people in line! So Finished Walmart and was in the Target line (about 6th) by 5:40! It was great. I can only hope this year goes as smoothly

We do the same thing. I have my PM list in hand and gather the items. Our store even let us put blitz items in our cart, with the exception of certain electronics. We were in line by 4:30 and out of the store by 5:15:D

This will be my first Black Friday at a super center, that is if they have what I want at a good price.

I have a question. How do you tell which item is which since it is wrapped in black plastic? We plan on being at the store around 3A and will be in search of a good deal on a digital camera for our son. Now if they have one at a great price, how will I know where to wait?

Our WM has always kept the small electronic (including laptops) and camera BF items in the AV department. Larger electronics (desktops and TVs) usually ended up along the main midway aisle beginning near the front registers.

Cameras would be kept behind the counter and you'd probably have to find out which line leads to it.

My Walmart hands out "maps" indicating where the BF items are located throughout the store.

Last year, we could not even touch the BF items until 5 a.m. They had associates watching the black plastic making sure it wasn't removed. The years before, we were able to get everything we wanted long before 5 a.m., but we could not check out until 5 a.m. But we were first to check out.

Last year our Super WM told us that they were going to keep everything under wraps until 5am. We noticed at around 10:30 on Thanksgiving, that people were already hovering. They insured us that nothning would happen until the am when a manager would begin lines at the big items. However, my husband and I did our usual split in the morning around 4 and when he got to walmart people were already in line with their items waiting until 5. We actually heard a few other versions of what would happen in the morning before the later. So basically don't listen to anything they say just hang out in the store until the am:yuck:
