shoptiludrop07 Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Anyone still have concern over the toy paint issue's that made the news this year ?
dmmiller Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 I'm glad most of my kids are out of the Toy phase. Their onto bigger more expensive games. lol But I still have neices/nephew to buy for, SO I will try and watch what I get, and I dont think it'll be from China, if I can help it.
droolbug2 Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 They were talking about this on the Today show yesterday. (I think!?!?) There expert said that you don't necessarily have to avoid toys from China. He said to look for it to be marked with a " CE ". If it has this mark then it passes European guidelines. He also said to stay away from Dollar store toys, off brand toys, etc. He said these toys are more likely to have higher levels of lead. HTH

txmomma Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 I saw that on the "Today" show too. I think the CE mark is on the bottom of the box/package.

guilliam Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 What scares me is the toys that were recalled were 180x the limit for lead!!!!
shoptiludrop07 Posted September 22, 2007 Author Posted September 22, 2007 Wow 180 times over the limit is a lot ! I had no Idea......
jarerice Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Why can't they make the lead no toxic, like they do in pencils?
guilliam Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Wow 180 times over the limit is a lot ! I had no Idea......yeah, I heard it on the radio. I about died when I heard it!!
iloveblkfriday Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 i seen on news some areas are going to have a place to bring toys to check not sure where but I am in ga
Spotted1 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I will be avoiding fisher price/mattel made toys as much as possible. I could've understood if it were a couple thousand contaminated toys that squeaked by, but millions? 3 phases of recalls? There's enough alternative brands out there.
Turtle Mommy Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I am not too concerned. Both boys are older and are not playing with those kinds of toys. I am going the GC route for my nieces and nephews this year so it is up to the parents to worry about it.
siageah Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 My daughter wants a Diego toy. Prince Diego. And I bought one on sale over the summer and that was part of the recall. And every time I turn around now there is another recall. I'm really getting fed up with it all. No, of course she doesn't need any new plastic toys really. But this is something that she has asked for consistently and she probably isn't going to get it because of this lead paint. I think she may end up with a Diego V-Smile cartridge or the like.
