Brad Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 This is the official thread for Black Friday related discussion of MP3 players, regardless of if the items are actually in ads or not. This post will be updated with information about MP3 players that appear in Black Friday ads as they are released. Brad Posted September 5, 2007 Author Posted September 5, 2007 FYI, here is a comparison chart for the new iPods announced today: http://www.apple.com/ipod/whichipod/ http://images.apple.com/ipod/images/promo_whichipod_img20070905.png
LyLMyssChaos Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Hmmm, I wonder if this will have any affect on the "old" iPods price-wise?
jarerice Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 i hope they come down some in price! i think they will.
nedsw33 Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 typically the prices on previous ipod models Do go down when new versions come out... so keep on the lookout!
mgmckny Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 I've noticed that everyone seems to be having price drops (temp or otherwise) on the Microsoft Zune. Any guess whether they will go lower? Currently "on sale" for $199.99 orig. $249.99.
tmc8080 Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 30gb PMPs(Portable Media Players, know your jargon please..) that play videos have been sold for as low as $149 after rebate, so a black friday ad would have to do much better.. say: $99 a/r...? Just to clear out the old stock....
mojaxs34 Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 i really want one of those new ipod touch. those ipods look really nice.
winy926 Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 i hope i can get a zune or something above 20 gb for under 100 dollars
winy926 Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 i heard there will be a no brand 10gb touchscreen mp4 for less then 99 dollars at bestbuy of bf but i can not confirm this is true. if it is i will have one.
pumpkinkid Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 If it is true, and it is a pretty enough device (how vain of me), I'll make sure to get one too. Last year they had enough mp3 players that there was no need to hand out tickets, hopefully it will be the case again this year.
mgmckny Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Right now in the Online Deals section of the forum, there is a thread about a $99.99 refurbished Zune (black only). I ordered 2 last night to go with the 2 new ones I got from Woot for 129.99ea a couple of weeks ago. I'm almost done with the big stuff!!! Yea
Miss Star Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 This will definitely be the thread I watch the most for the next month or so! I've have been wanting an MP3 player FOREVER and hopefully I can get one on BF!
motherofboys Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 My two older sons ages 9 and almost 13 are wanting the ipod nano for Christmas and the iHome thing....do these EVER go on sale, online or in store????
sweet_as_candy_62 Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Thats my black friday goal this year...to find a cheap MP3 player for my 15 yo son. (He had an IPOD Nano and let a friend borrow it ...and friend lost it!!) No more brand name MP3s being bought here!!! I am already soooo excited...I love BF!!!
needanewcamera Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 My two older sons ages 9 and almost 13 are wanting the ipod nano for Christmas and the iHome thing....do these EVER go on sale, online or in store????I am lucky - my dd wants an mp3 player, but isn't picky about what kind (whereas my ds HAD to have ipod) so bring on the deals. i am hoping for something 2gb for under $50:cheesy:
teb Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 I saw an 80gb at the pawn shop! I've go to go back without my kid to get the specifics.
Tawnie Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I have seen 30 gig zunes online at woot.com and other discount sites recently. awsome deals so I would not be surprised for some rock bottom deals come BF
Iliveforblckfri Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Thats my black friday goal this year...to find a cheap MP3 player for my 15 yo son. (He had an IPOD Nano and let a friend borrow it ...and friend lost it!!) No more brand name MP3s being bought here!!!I am already soooo excited...I love BF!!!After buying three no name mp3 players for my son, I am thrilled that I got him an iPod last year. The plus of the iPod was the casing. He didn't have friends lose his mp3 players, they would drop them and break them. I have been lucky enough to win/earn two iPod shuffles, I am hoping to get one more to give the only nephew that doesn't have one.
youm0nt Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 my 4th gen ipod's hard drive is toast. sigh. i dont know if i should get a replacement drive or one of the latest ipod versions.
IceQueen Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I bought a little Insignia MP3 player that has 3 full length ballets and about another 100 songs on it, and it's still not full! It cost me about 80$, but I just saw it for 60$. Great sound. No arm band though, which stinks, but I bought the armband for a Sansa and it works fine. Still thinking on getting a little bit more of an upgrade and giving my insignia to my DH.
Illinoismom Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I bought last year two of the one that W-mart had as door busters, Those are still going strong,
JustMyLuck Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Do you guys think that stores will have deals on iPods this year?
freesia39 Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 ipods almost never have deals, because the price is set by apple and no retailer will want to make apple mad by lowering the price. the most i've ever seen it down was 2 dollars at fry's. you will have to look at the ad and see what the store is bundling with it - free travel charger, free case, free itunes downloads, etc. there are apple education discounts if you qualify: http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/routingpage.html

I was thinking that they would see any of the old generation ones that they had before the new ones came out in September.
Christi Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I just scanned the Office Max add and it listed a 30 gig Zune for $99.99....brown only.
princez916 Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I'm looking to get a mp3 for dd12(13 in feb) and possibly one for dn13. I was going to get dd the new nano, and dn a shuffle, but have seen some others with more gb for less. I have a 60gb ipod, ds17 has a gen2 nano. Can someone let me know how good the Zune and and Sandisk Sansa are? If I can save a little and keep decent quality, I'd rather do that!

My dd (12) and DH both have a 1 gig Sandisk Sansa....we got them on BF last year. They work well enough, never had any issues with them other than it's small, DH needs a much larger one, but it was a good starter. We paid $35 for them.
