I wonder how those parents that paid $400+ on ebay feel now?

I imagine most feel pretty stupid, but I'm sure there are those that still feel justified because their kids had them first and they were able to put them under the tree. My kids were/are young enough they really don't know the difference, but they sure were excited getting an unexpected surprise in January when we found them at Wal-mart. I was still not thrilled with spending the $35 on the stupid thing though. I can't even begin to imagine paying more than that.

Before you even ask, YES, I have christmas on the brain. YES, I know it's August 9th.

But what do you think will be "the can't live without, must have toy"?

I think the Furreal Parrot is going to be hot, but maybe it's because I want one myself. But I think Ally will want one too.

So what are your thoughts???????

For boys I think Transformers may be a big item. I like the smart cycle by Fisher Price but I will probably not get it. Polly Pocket has a new bus type thing coming out(Target.com)that I think dd would like.

Webkinz, High School Musical 2 stuff, thomas wooden trains, I saw a new Barbie that you hook up to Mp3 players and she dances and sings into a microphone, I'm sure there will be some Elmo toy that will be big, Leapster and games, and the new Leapfrog computer for kids that hooks to the tv.

I paid $35 and STILL had them under the tree...almost only had one (got one for my boys, and one for my nieces), but as it got closer to Christmas, they became easier to find...ordered one online, and then the second one was about one of eight on an endcap at Target maybe a week before the holiday...people who'd pay $400 for one of them (or for any regularly priced $35 toy) are insane! I'm sorry, I love my kids more than life itself, but what does it teach them if you'll pay unrealistic prices for a TOY they want, when they can wait until another time (ie., birthday, good report card, etc.) and you can buy it at a reasonable price? And if you're going to go to those lengths when your child is that young, you are in for a world of trouble when they become a teenager and want the "IT" thing...just my 2 cents...

I saw one of these last night at Walmart. Scared the crap out of me

I was just walking along the toy isle, minding my own business and then this thing

starts yelling at me! After I looked around, i noticed that Parrot sitting on the

bottom shelf. LOL

I then remembered you all talking about this. He is cute. :)

Yeah, FP sent DS the DVD for the planet heroes a few weeks ago, and he was enthralled. I thought it was rather cool that signing up on their site for emails and stuff got him such a cool freebie.

I've been keeping a lookout for them, but so far no dice.

I finally saw the furreal parrot last night and the i can play guitar. I liked the parrot, but the guitar is a plug and play. We haven't had much luck with those. Hmmm, now i need to decide on the parrot!!!

My parents got the FurReal Butterscotch for my daughter for Christmas and let me tell you - Butterscotch gets lots of love. She has a toy room and her bedroom and Butterscotch is one that MUST stay in her room according to her. She sits on him when she watches a movie in our living room, she sings to him. Butterscotch is expensive but if you have a child that loves horses - this is a must have! He even has an air hose that hooks up to his nose and when he winnies or neigh's puffs of air come out. Its almost a little eerie because when you walk in a room and he hears you he turns his head towards you and winnies. But most importantly - my dd LOVES him and I highly recommend him!

I saw the Planet Heroes in Walmart today. They are setting out their new toys - just thought I would give you a heads up if you wanted to go look :)

I think the new Mickey Mouse clubhouse stuff will be hot again. My dd (2) loved everything she saw - they have new figures, a jammin' bandstand, new plush dolls - she wanted it all.

We saw the furreal parrot and she wasn't impressed but she did like the big Kitty in the box and that was much better priced at $39.99.

There is a vtech zoom camera that also takes video that I think will do well also.

Why is Walmart's Wii bundle so much? I added up everything and they overshot the thing by almost $100!!!

Plus the shipping is outrageous(when I checked it was $90+! )I got my bundle from Gamestop a few months ago, shipping was much better. I did recently see some Wii's in a Target though, one that doesn't get as much traffic.

I took DD to TRU Friday night just to look. It was fun to see the new toys that are out and to get DD's reaction to things ( I finally have a good list for her) She does like the Furreal Parrot, but did not say she wanted one. I liked the Clickstart computer from Leapfrog but I think I am going to try for the Leapster L-max (since I did not get a v-smile from Target) I was disapponited that they did not have the Plasmacar in the store for her to try.
