ruffian122 Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 This TV is selling at Target for $499.99. Just wanted to see if I could get some opinions on it? Anyone have any personal experience with the Olevia TVs? So far the reviews I have found have been OK. Just wanted to see if anyone has had any problems with this model. Also, I have a question that might be a bit silly, but I connect to my digital cable box with a coaxial cable. I'm not sure if this TV has the proper input? Am I overlooking something? I'd hate to get the TV and have a hard time connecting it, and/or have to go out and buy a bunch of cables just to get my cable to work. Thanks in advance for any info and/or advice!
Marcster Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 I have the an Olevia 27" LCD HDTV I bought on BF 2005. Buy an extended warranty! I'm on my second one. My Olevia has a coaxial cable input. I believe every TV on the market has one and will for the foreseeable future.

I did some research on coaxial and found that they are also referred to as RF inputs, so I managed to figure that mystery out on my own. But thanks!! Also, do you have the 5 series (model 527V) or the 3 series (model 327)? I've found there is a significant difference between them. Other than having problems with your first set, how is the second one? Do you like it overall? It will be my second TV (eventually in the bedroom) so at this point I'm just looking for something affordable and somewhat reliable. It also will be my first HD experience, which is why I don't want to go too large at this point. Luckily, it says on the Target website that I can return it to the Target store - so if I have any problems at least I don't have to deal with mailing it back or anything like that. Thanks again for your help!
ruffian122 Posted March 5, 2007 Author Posted March 5, 2007 Does anyone else have experience with these TVs?
Gurnee Al Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 I have a 23" Olevia LCD. It's a decent TV, and the price was right -- about $350. What's the resolution on the 27" unit you're looking at?

The second one is fine, no dead pixels. Minor gripes: 1) The remote control has the "Menu" button in the middle of the directional keys where you expect to find the "Enter" button. I've had the TV for 15 months and I am STILL trying to get used to that! 2) We use the TV in our bedroom. The timer to turn the TV off is way too complicated. Instead of a simple "off in 15, 30, 45, 60, etc. minutes" (like you find on 99% of the TVs out there), you have to program a specific time for the TV to turn off. And the next night, you have to reprogram the time again... http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Angry/frusty.gif 3) It has all sorts of audio programs like live, arena, movie, club, church, etc. And they all make the little speakers bottom out from the bass. I just keep it "normal" and it's fine. 4) Being an "off brand", it's hard to find multi-function remotes that will control it.
angel-too Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I have a 27" Olevia we bought at ABC Warehouse for 499 last year. I am very happy with it. Sound and picture are great. I agree with Marcster, dont know if its the same model but the remote is odd. On mine, the directional keys in the middle are not Vol. ^ and channel < >. They are smaller buttons near the top. The power button broke off on mine and believe it or not I found a universal remote at Walmart for $4.97 and it had an Olevia code! YAY.
FourDreemz Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I got the Olevia 37" right before Christmas, and I love it! The sound and picture are great. And yes, the remote is a little odd.

I recently bought a universal for $20 and it had an Olevia code, but it doesn't work.
tobal2 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 We have a 32" model purchased from HH Gregg (one of the 2xx series) ~ 3 months ago and have had no problems at all. It was my understanding while researching different brands that Olevia frequently uses LG panels in their TV's - anyone else heard that?
