lovebears65 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Should I go renew this or Go with costco or BJ's Costco is the the most distances from my house but is close to where my Dh works.. Sams is the shortest distance then BJs.. What one should we buy. We only go every month so the distance really isnt a big factor What has the best deals
lilac100 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I'd go with the one you feels gives you the best deals. I don't have a costco around here.
rabx5 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I would go with anything other than Sams Club. I won't go into details, but I will NEVER step foot in their stores ever again! I wish we had a Costco around here. Yeah, check out Costco

theboyzmom Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 no Costco near us either, but I've heard it's good...Sam's is the ONLY choice here
Rockfordmom Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 *waits for RossMAN to chime in about Costco being "Da Bomb"* just what I was going to say
bayhaysay Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I had to renew my Sams club membership this month also. There's no Costco around here either.
kmbrly Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I gave up on Sam's Club. BJ's is closer to me anyway. And if I ever feel the need to go to Costco, my sister has a card for there.
sterlingjeanne Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 My choice is Costco. I generally find them cheaper, with a better selection, and it seems to me (but that may relate to my choices). I'm in FL and Sam's is much closer, and the extra drive is worth it for me. I'm in Long Island some summers and there the difference btw BJ's and Costco price wise is huge. It seems like Costco's price is pretty much the same FL oe Long Island, and the local prices are much different ... so with groceries it really saves there. On the downside, the lines at Costco seem longer to me.
ms_mckenna Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I only wish we had a Costco. We only have Sam's so that is what we use as well.
Ripn Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 speaking of a Sams renewal...did they always charge tax on the membership fee? Mine is up in April and I just got the bill, and there is sales tax on it. I guess I'll have to see if I still have last years statement from renewal time. And yes, I WANT a Costco toooo!!!!!!
Shortness Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I really like Costco. I have no complaints whatsoever. I have never tried Sams or BJ's though.

And yes, I WANT a Costco toooo!!!!!!I wonder if that is a local type thing. I got my renewal the other day and I did not see any tax listed. Was the renewal an odd number or something? Ours is always flat fees like $40 or something depending on which membership you have. We don't have a Costco either.
Ripn Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Yes, the total bill is $42.04 and the club we go to is in a county that charges 5.1% sales tax. My wife says we have paid tax on the renewal before.
Christy Garner Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I just renewed my Sam's membership on Saturday and did not have to pay sales tax - just 40 dollars for the membership renewal but I had already spent 260.00 - uuuggh. We have a Costco but I have never been. Looks like from the positive posts, I need to check it out.

Gurnee Al Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Sams is my only choice, but I like them. We go once every week or two. It's actually less than one mile from my house.
lori12563 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 i just saw up at my BJ's that the pharmacys are closing. I dont know if that makes a difference for you in the decsion.
Ripn Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 It's actually less than one mile from my house.Looks like I have found out where the SuperBowl party will be! I have found your house with the help of all your posts LOL...j/k :)
dmmiller Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 we have a costco membership. No complaints here. :)

RobD Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 I've just posted a detailed reply under "Sams Club or Costco" about this. I will say that my in laws joined BJ's last year and HATED IT! They couldn't wait for the year to be over so that they could switch to Costco. I am a huge Costco fan: We've bought cars through their auto buying program, we use their optical dept, we started our IRA's and ESA's through their Sharebuilder program, I buy all my meat there plus all birthday cakes (their bakery is the bomb! especially their new huge cream puffs.) The only thing I wish they carried was older girls (size 7-16) and junior's clothing. RobD
RossMAN Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Without reading a single post (except for Scott's) CostCo is the answer. :)
dtwdmaty Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Costco, no question. I'm a member of both (only because I get Sam's free thru a relative) and Costco is far superior. If you spend a lot, get the $100 executive membership. We basically get our membership paid for every year with the rebate.
Kara1204 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Personally, I will not PAY to have the "privelage" of shopping in ANYBODY'S store. If they do not want my business without charging an entrance fee, heck with 'em. I do just fine on my own getting good deals, thank you...http://www.smileypad.com/v224/Happy/Grin-Nod.gif
Kayakmom Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I've had BJ's for years and I like it a lot. I go there an average of about once a week. I love Costco but it's about 1/2 hour in a direction I don't go very often. I had it last year and didn't renew because of the distance, but I miss it already. I was telling my uncle yesterday and he said he'd add me on his business account since I'll be doing some part time bookkeeping for him and wanted to look into the payroll service they offer. :) I love the organic field greens that they have at our Costco. No others can even come close to matching the quality for the price.
supershopper1 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 How is Cosco meat? I worked in a restaurant & Sams has great steaks & babyback ribs! Better then my local grocery store.
