leefamily23
One of our local Walden Books is closing. I don't know if this is true of other locations. I know there are some other posters on this forum from my area- so if anything maybe this will help them. It's the one at the McKinley Mall in Hamburg, NY. They have 40 % of all regularly priced merchandise Then an additional 75% off any clearanced books- I'd say 30% of the store has been clearanced. 75% off all calenders and 75% off all local interest books. My husband likes "paranormal studies"- I got 3 books of local paranormal interests for $8.xx.

sadmom5
They closed one a couple miles from me here in so cal. but sent me a coupon to use at their other stores. I think they are closing the ones that don't do good business
bayhaysay
There is a Waldenbooks in our mall. I haven't heard that it's closing. Of course I didn't know that Fazoli's closed either till I went through the non working drive through.
tlock1945
Our local store recently closed too, I heard Borders bought Walden. A Borders opened in the same area right after Walden closed.

TerryAnn
Waldenbooks and Borders were always under the same 'hat' ... Borders was the big mostly stand alone stores and Waldenbooks the small stores usually in the mall. They are also Amazon.com. Best job I ever had working for them. buttaflye
The one in Kings Plaza Mall in Brooklyn is closing tomorrow. I'm going today to use a Borders gift card that was given to my daughter for her last birthday. When I stopped by last week, all merchandise was 40% off. We used to have a B. Dalton also but that closed years ago. Now the mall won't have any.
DaveL
Borders bought WaldenBooks awhile ago. Some were even renamed as Borders Express. Maybe they are closing the ones that are unprofitable or too close to a Borders store.
bayhaysay
How long did you wait at the speaker thingy before you gave up and drove off mad? long enough
justlisa27
Our Walden Books closed yesterday. All bargain books were $1 and everything else was 40% off. The line was outrageous and you couldn't really walk through the store to see what they had but my DS got some great deals.

theboyzmom
OMG! I'll have to go to our mall and see if our Waldenbooks is there! Since it's right down the hall from Target and Old Navy, it'll be worth it

leefamily23
I guess the Border's thing makes sense in our area then. They are putting a new Border's in just 1/8 of a mile from the mall.
DaveL
So what do you like the best, Borders or Barnes and Noble?

amyers12345
ours switched to a Border's Express quite a while back. Of course, I only go to the mall about 3 times a year, so I can't give you an exact time.
