comm402
I agree with tazolover, if a cashier gives me too much change I also speak up. Some stores have very strict shortage policies and I have heard of people being fired for as little as $2 over or under in their tills. For me that $2 would never be worth the job of someone who has to feed their family. However, if something scans lower than marked I consider myself lucky to have gotten a deal. Sorry folks but i am not going to ask to pay the marked price when the item scans lower. I don't work for the store and it is not my job to police their employees to ensure they are not making mistakes. Also, not to get off topic here but has anyone checked out the "perimeter" target thread in offline deals? There are plenty of posts there about target items that are ringing up lower than the clearance price and no one is complaining ! One other quick note, I do believe that the store must honor the "scanned" price (except when the item scans "zero"), the same way they have to honor the shelf tag if it was never changed when the sale ended. Florida Girl
If a store has a sale sign and it has an expiration date, they don't have to honor the price; if there is no date of expiration for the sale they do. To the original poster, if you have not received as of yet there is no guarentee that the item will be different from what you ordered because it could have been a typo error. You really won't know until you received the item in hand to know if you really got something that you did not order. If it makes you feel better without given your name or order number you can call customer service to ask them a general question as to what to do if you received any item you believe was in error. Either way I hope your daughter enjoys her gift which ever one it is.
bpr
If you call and say something, more than likely, they will say it was their mistake and 'thank you' for being honest and to keep it. I've had that happen at stores before.
ICF
The store isn't going to want to mess with an exchange and the extra costs they would have to get the "wrong" item back and then send you what was ordered. It was likely upgraded to complete the order, since they ran out of the model your ordered. To those that talk about "conscious".....you didn't do anything wrong and IMO shouldn't feel bad even if the item was mistake and not an upgrade that your received. You didn't intentionally deceive them to send you a product you didn't actually pay for. Items at many stores don't ring up at the ticket price....some ring higher, some lower. Many stores when changing prices don't get all the items retagged due to the manual process of it, so if an item rings up less then what I expect I just assume it is on sale and feel happy to have saved a few extra $$$s. conj
ok, there are 2 different conversations going on - one is buying something in the store and having it ring up "wrong" - lower than was expected. This is not the same situation as the OP. In the OP, she ordered online, it was packed at a warehouse, it could be an intentional replacement, or unintentional slip up, or a employee who is mad at the company... I'd call and let them know. If you purchase something in the store, and it rings up under the right amount, they have a record of the transaction - their inventory will still be accurate. The cashier will not get in trouble. If you forget to pay for something, that is a different story all together.

nikkilugi
I agree with the poster that said that this discrepancy is nothing that I intentionally set out to do - that is why I wouldn't say anything. I happened to be one of those people talking about the Fandango deal - but that was a case of people intentionally taking advantage of the system. My dh works in Loss Prevention for a major national retailer and I can honestly say that their company is not talking about pricing errors. Theft is their number one concern. If the merchandise is in the system at a certain price and the customer pays for that merchandise then they fulfilled their end of the deal. I have a conscious. I use it daily. I give back extra change. I don't think this is a big deal. I wouldn't say anything - we are talking about a one step up mp3 player. Now if they sent me an IPod that would be different.
