conj Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 So, We weren't going to go BF shopping this year... we didn't *need* anything that was on sale, most of the shopping was done, and I didn't want to stand out in the cold. Turns out we'll be staying with my FIL, he can watch the kids, and we can go to the mall (still 45 min drive from there) that has a target and a Best buy, and hit Walmart if something AMAZING gets added.... So - if you had nothing you needed - would you venture out?
CrayZMama80 Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Yeah I would. I won't miss BF for nothing. Even if it's just to pick up some stuff we don't need just to see everyone in all the madness. I love seeing how people act on this day. There are people who will fight over nothing.
jade6700 Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I didn't need anything last year and I still went. It was more fun that way. I wasn't in "shopping mode" but just looking around. I still ended up buying some things. But it was stuff for me at a good price so how could I pass it up?
theboyzmom Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I"m facing that right now...I'm pretty much done shopping, and so far none of the ads really excites me I'm still going...maybe I won't go at 3am and stand in line waiting for the store to open, but I love to people watch and it's a once a year event...
Gurnee Al Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 My one "need" isn't available as a Best Buy doorbuster -- a 37" to 40" HDTV. I need to get it at BB, because I have over $1,000 in BB Gift Cards, Reward Zone Certificates and BBBs that I need to use. I'll still go out and pick up a few minor things somewhere (DVDs, George Forman Grill) but I don't think I'll be getting anywhere before they open.
yummy mummy Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I"m facing that right now...I'm pretty much done shopping, and so far none of the ads really excites me I'm still going...maybe I won't go at 3am and stand in line waiting for the store to open, but I love to people watch and it's a once a year event...same here, i really dont NEED anything but i figure i'll go anyway:D
Melissa Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I probably would, assuming I had money to spend.
RossMAN Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Is it worth it? Yes and no. There are deals available year round. I'll probably do most of my shopping online and visit some stores around 4-5AM.
theboyzmom Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 hey ross...can we call you at 4am to see what deals you found???? hehehehe
sigrist_2000 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 ill be out sale or no sale...just love to shop...window or not:gdmornincoffee:
kahmalim Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I'm pretty much finish, but I wouldn't miss blac friday shopping. The rush of a great deal will keep me coming back.
satidwell Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I go just because it is the only day of the year my mom and I get out with out any kids its more for the fun and tradition then anything else
ShopperMom Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I purposely held off from finishing my shopping so I'd have a reason to go lol.
BCBGirl Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 If I get a digital camera.. cool, if not, no big deal or maybe I'll find some other deals? Whatever, I won't be get bent out of shape just to save $20.
elena_398 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Im going out even though my kids are pretty much done. Im going just for the heck of it. Im going to get a couple small items for myself and for the house. So at least this year, there is no pressure to "have to have something".
sylph211 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I'll probably do most of my shopping online and visit some stores around 4-5AM. Same here. I am doing most of my shopping online since I have a brand new baby and dont want him out mixed up in all the BF mess. I still will hit my local Eckerd and CVS for some little deals. If target doesnt offer something online I will be going there.
ms_mckenna Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Well I just recently figured out that there were some things that I was interested in getting on BF. I was still going don't get me wrong. I can't imagine not going on BF. We went one year and stood in line places that had GC just so I could shop some ... I had no money that year. So ya there is not a lot that would keep me from going shopping on BF .
privatsoccer Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I have never been on this day...but...I live a block from Wal-mart..it takes me less than 1 min!
alimfp Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 You know, you'll probably find great deals that aren't advertised of course. Also, you'll run across things you wouldn't think to buy for whatever reason, but they are such good deals - you swipe 'em up! It's worth it if it's not difficult for you to get out of the house. Being that you have childcare, I'd go for it!!
raymacfla Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 How about Target for no pressure sales? We went there last year because it was last on our list, and at 5PM they had everything we were looking for! Plentiful pallets of unsold items were probably the result of an unsuccessful ad campaign, overpurchasing, or angst against the French owners of the corporation. With the lack of deals, I predict that Target may be the late afternoon stop for non-pressure shopping again this year!
Guest JeepMom Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Last year I said I wasn't going to go. I got a late start and regretted it. This year I'm starting at the rip hour of 3am!
tdanette Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I think it would be. You could always run across an unexpected bargain or two and if nothing else you'll have some time to yourselves.
wyntyrose Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I finished shopping yesterday. So if I venture out it will only be to the Px/Bx to get the Gift Certificate and coupons. I am just not into anything in the ads this year.
MICKEY3601 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I would not miss BF. I'm sure I would find some great deal & make it worth it!! :)
Princess7915 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 There hasn't been anything that I "need" ever on BF. I go for the sport of it!
noaimhere Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 absolutely worth it. It's not just shopping, it is an experience! LOL I love to shop and I have nothing on my 'list' to buy. My list consists of football gloves from Dicks' (not on sale) and Wii which I have not snagged yet! I'm still going!
smurf94409 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 One of my Christmas traditions for me has become shopping on this day. I would go and went last year and didn't really have to have something, but wanted some stuff. I enjoy it. It's cool that you may stand inline at one store with someone and see them again at another store. You just have to go knowing there will be long lines, and some not so nice people out there, but for the most part people are descent. The pay off is knowing how much money you have saved. This year there is something I really want that is a limited quantity item, so that could make it different for me this year. I do truly enjoy going out this day. People always ask me if I am nuts, and to that I reply YES!!!
