tchrpat Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 New to site. Need some help. I will be in Orlando for Black Friday 2006. Looks like I will be standing in line at BB or CC. I am used to standing in line in the frigid cold usually starting around 3 am. My question is which would be the best stores to go to in Orlando and what time should I get there. Really wanting a laptop. Stood in line at BB last year but still did not get one.
CrayZMama80 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 If I lived down in the warmer climates, I would spend the whole night in line. Anything is better then freezing. As you know from experience, it's not too much fun. I would give anything for a 32+ night to wait out in for this time of year! I wish you the best of luck getting your laptop!

Use it as a learning experience and get your laptop.

tt600triumph01 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Well, I got to BB at 4am last year and the first person in line got there at 9pm on Thanksgiving night. I would go early this year if I were you. I do live here in Orlando. So I know these people are crazy.

disneytati Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Last year, I was in Orlando for BF. I tried to go to Best Buy at 8:30 PM, and there was already a line, enough for me not to get the laptops. So I went to Walmart, and since it's a 24-hr store, there was no line, I was able to start one, and I was the first to get the computers. So well.... if you want to get anything at Best Buy, I'd say get there at 8PM.
soupsplatterer Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Anyone have any experience at BB in the Daytona Beach area? It's only about thirty minutes north of Orlando, and I'm concerned that some out-of-towers may be cominig up becuase the BB in Daytona doesn't serve a lot of people. I might have to adjust my game plan if that's the case. Anyone have any information?
tchrpat Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 Thanks to all for your response. Very helpful. It looks like it is going to be a looooooong night.
tchubb Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 It may be a long night but you'll be warm! I have no experience with BB on BF here in the Orlando area except that I went around 11 last year and was able to get the DVD's that I wanted and was able to price match for some DVD's.

I live in Rio de Janeiro, and it's boiling hot here all year long. So I always freeze in Florida. I think I would die if I went to a colder place!
Guest ladakn99 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 maybe if we all teamed up, that would be great. for those of you in the orlando area, that map was a map of the Florida Mall Area, in south Orlando, near the OBT and Sand Lake Intersection. I'll be in front of the best buy at 8PM Thanksgiving night

I'll be in front of the best buy at 8PM Thanksgiving nightIf my aunt knew how to speak English, I would tell her to meet you. She'll be there really early too. So, if you see a lady that looks like a guy, short white hair, with an attitude... that's my aunt! LOL I hope she can communicate, and get everything we want!
dmilnerjax Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 We do the BB in Waterford lakes near Hwy 50 and Alafaya. There's a CC right there just across the street too. Take a jacket, it's Orlando but it gets chilly at night. Get there the night before, the lines start very very early (Thursday night). I am bummed this year, since my shopping buddy (sister) is not going to be there. It's just not the same.
Dunlopiii Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 BB in Daytona doesn't serve a lot of people. I might have to adjust my game plan if that's the case. Anyone have any information?Lines started last year at 7:30pm, at both BB and CC. I dont' go near ISB on Black Friday. We have the Turkey Rod Run (car show) at the speedway that day. Traffic is just stupid unless your in and out of the area by 8am.

Looks like I'm going to be outside of BB at 7pm turkey day night! I've got to get that 22" monitor and the miniDV camcorder, so if you're going, I'll see you there !!!

Hubby was scheduled to work, but apparently that has changed as of an hour ago. BTW, nice to see a fellow NSBer here :)

BTW, nice to see a fellow NSBer here :)I'm starting to think that the BestBuy in Daytona will be relatively easy pickings for what I want for BF this year, but just to stay on the safe side, I'm going to get out early. If I see you there, I'll be the one screaming and flailing my arms and sprinting for the monitors!
Floridasunshine Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Honestly, I would go north of Orlando,,,,near any large 'retirement' areas. A couple of years ago I stayed with my in-laws near Apopka (near lots of retirement communities) and the stores were a ton quieter and calmer than here in Jacksonville. 'course I should probably not let out my little secret...

It's worth investigating for next year though!
pammk123 Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 ladakn99 thank you for the map, this will be my first orlando bf and I cannot wait
