Adamtanderson Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I noticed this year LED Christmas lights. Are these new this year or were they sold last year? Has anyone bought them? What do you think of them? I think that I might buy some if they last longer that in regular ones.
Melissa Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 I think they've been available for a couple years. I don't really care for them, though. To me, they're too bright and not very Christmassy. I guess I'm a traditionalist, lol.
kdymott Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 I bought these type of 'string lights' and a tree topper for my tree last year and I loved them... They do not get warm to the touch & they use ~30% less energy (if I remember that correctly.) Last year I found the best deal on them at Target. Just be aware that LEDs are not quite capable of a 'true white' yet. They have a blueish cast to them - other colors are truer.
sleepyshopper Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I really like the LED lights....they are so energy efficient and bright. I only have a few sets of them, but I really enjoy them.
natansyd Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I just bought some at Target and am anxious to try them out. I figure, the brighter the better. Plus they are chip and break resistant.
rgroves Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 The white ones look sort of "freakish" to me. I bought White icicle lights last year and returned them after abotu 2 days of having them up. The colored lights look great and I like that they are very low power. Personally I would like to change out all m lights for these (with the exception of the white ones).
sbwolfer Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 I like the LED lights. Like some of the other people I am not too crazy about the white ones. LED lights are much more energy efficient and they don't get hot to the touch. They even make LED spotlights. According to this website you could run a LED spotlight year round for only about $4.00. http://www.thinkgeek.com/clearance/7aa8/
