  1. Cold Hard CASH!! Go hit an ATM tonight and get the cash you need for part of your purchases, and then use your Debit card for the rest.
  2. Wow, the ad sucked. BUT if you look on the http://holiday.ri-walmart.com/?section=secret (wal-mart page) they are showing a KitchenAid Classic Stand Mixer for $139 on BF from 5a-11a. This one was not int eh ad flyer at all..... Looks like Wally-World, got the hint that the BF flyer sucked and decided to reveal one of the "Secrets" early to lure us back into the store.

    some wal-mart rumors

Yea, Wal-Mart is doing LOTS of mis-information this year. When the Toshiba HD-DVD's are spotted, they were $198. Some Wal-Marts put them out early and then the registers would not even ring them up. So the rumors were $198 for that coming weekend, when in fact the real price was $98. So, since Wal-Mart has told all deal sites they will sue of they post deals earlier than the 19th, you can expect Wal-Mart has something really, really interesting in the works. Only 3 days, 19 hours to go.....
  4. http://www.woez88.com/ THey will start this Monday morning.....
  5. I've seen them for the last 10 years or so. But the ones I've seen were hung from the ceiling so the possibility of them "falling over" were not possible. THe tree was a smaller tree (about 4-5 foot) and whe hung from teh ceiling it was up off the floor be a good 3 foot. I thkn it looks wierd, but who am I to tell somoe how to put pu their tree or how to decorate it. Everyone has thier "thing" and I'll let them express it until they try to push it on me or it interferes with what I'm doing.
  6. The white ones look sort of "freakish" to me. I bought White icicle lights last year and returned them after abotu 2 days of having them up. The colored lights look great and I like that they are very low power. Personally I would like to change out all m lights for these (with the exception of the white ones).
  7. Well, if you are going to post something like this, you need to explain WHY. Since you're not going to be at CompUSA, that'll mean everyoen at your store will be one spot closer to the fornt.....Thanks....
  8. Funny story on outside dedorations. Wife and I bought a new house last summer ('05). We planned on some lights and things for hte house for our first Christmas in the house....nothing spectacular or outrageous. Well, as fall approached and I planned out the lights and such, I noticed as the leaves fell off this one tree in our backyard had strings of lights in it. None of them worked, and some were growing into the limbs of the tree. I thought I better get them out of there before it hurts the tree. so I started pulling and pulling. About 25 strings of lights later I had all but 2 strings from the top of the tree. 25 stirngs...OMG the tree was only 1 -1/2 story tall. Too bad none of the worked and I broke a lot of the before they came down....it could've saved my $$$ on the decorations on the front of the house. LOL But a word of caution.... Avoid the white LED icile lights. I'm all for lower cost power bills and saving money, but these lights just look nasty. They leave a freaky white glow on the house. The colored LED lights are great and extremely bright and don;t use much power.
  9. Front: "I'm here for the: TV Laptop Doll DVD's And anything else you have tickets for..." BACK: "Sucks to be you..."
  10. 12 Pains of Christmas.....Best comedy song. But on a serious note: Silent Night, and all the "classic" songs. I used to sing on Highschool and I have fond memories of singing these songs for the elderly and sick. Watching them get teary-eyed got me choked up while singing. Now when I hear the songs all those memories come back. We even did 5 or 6 of the songs in different languages like Spanish, French, German, Russian, and some even in Sign Language.
  11. LOL. I think I've got enough people coming over this year. Me and wife Mom and dad Sister and her hubby Nephew and his girlfriend Aunt and guest Father-in-law And possibly my other sister (from out of town) and her hubby
  12. Making Christmas cookies with Mom and sisters around Thanksgiving. The recipies are about 150+ years old and handed down from generation to generation. We've been sworn to secrecy, with penalty of being kicked out of the will, if we give out the recipies to anyone outside the immediate family. Also, Checking out the huge displays of lights on other houses, Watching Christmas movies, and just beign with the family.
  13. No one in our immediate area, but several people go "all out" . THe Newspaper puts a map in the paper of the known light shows, and The news stations even have contests to see who has: 1) The best lights overall 2) most creative 3) The Most lgihts 4) Most entertaining Me - I just got for pretty. Icicles on gutters (2 story house), bushes covered, wreathes in windoes with candles, maybe an inflatabel and few small trees in yard. My front yard isn't big enough for a big light show, but the back yard is, too bad noone can see it except my wife and I.
  14. If they have anything descent that I need, I'll go there otherwise I'll stay nice a warm at home eating a Turkey sandwhich watching Christmas Vacation for the 1500th time.
  15. $1 to stand....$2 to sit. BYOTP (Bring Your Own Toilet Paper).
  16. Taking advantage of people is not "business". It's just like taking your car in for a "warning light" and teh mechanic tells you you need new valves, piston rings, tires, shocks, head gasket, transmission, and air freshener (because you stink). When all you really needed was a quart of oil added. A $19 oil change would be the best way to handle it, but instead you get duped in to spending $5000 on nothing. That is why you should give up the ticket and not sell it. Because if you don't get rid of that piece of paper, it'll be Worthless later in the day because they will sell the item anyway for hte advertised price. The ticket is a RESERVATION, you miss your reservation at a restaraunt and you loose your table. Now if you want to actually buy the item and sell it on ebay, then that's another story. As long as you don't start the bidding way above what you paid BEFORE the rebates. I saw harddrives from CompUSA one year that were $150 before rebate and $89 after, starting on eBay for $175 and people were payign as much as $250 + shipping for them. That is just ignorant people that don't do any research.
  17. That's Extortion. Plain and simple. Why charge someone $200 for a piece of paper??? If you were to say you didn't want the ticket and you said you'd sell it to me for $200, first I'd call you a [insert curse words here], then I'd yell for a BB employee, or call 911 and have you arrested for it.... If you get the ticket for the laptop, then you need to buy it, OR GIVE THE TICKET TO SOMEONE ELSE. Just because the person behind you showed up 1 hours AFTER you does not mean they should pay you for that ticket. I've passed up several things while waiting at CompUSA because I did not want them and someone else down the line might. I even talk to the people around me and we formulate a plan on who wants what and the people ahead of us in line will grab the tickets and then hand them back to us since we were friendly to them.
  18. I love to cook (yes, I'm a guy and love to cook), Mom loves to cook, My 2 sisters love to cook. We make it a family affair. I cook the Turkey, stuffing, Gravy, French Onion soup, and one of the desserts. Mom makes some of the sides (GB cassarole, rolls, creamed onions, cranberry sauce), Sisters make other sides, salad, mashed potateos, and other desserts. Turkey and stuffing - I use my BBQ Grill.....Yes, my BBQ grill. When the turley is ready (stuffed, seasoned, etc...) put it into a aluminum roasting pan with some liquid in the botton (enough to cover the bottom of the pan). Cover with foil. Heat BBQ to 325-350 degrees (I use 2 or 3 thermometers). Put the pan on the BBQ other than checking the temp leave it alone for 1 hour (keep covered with foil). Then baste every 30 minutes till about 2/3 of the way done, then remove foil cover and allow skin to brown and get crisp...Keep basting. When done, remove from grill and pull turkey from pan. Cover with several towels and sit for 20-25 minutes. Don't worry the towels will keep it warm. If done right you can almost debone the Turkey while carving it. it's moist and tender and you can still use your oven for the other things.
  19. ornament hooks are cheap...stock up...For the fragile ornaments, Take the hook and wrap it around the tree limb and around the loop on the ornament. It's a pain to remove tehn at the end of the season, but will keep them from getting knocked off or stolen by the cats. 2 cats in our house. One doesn't care, the other liek to hide in there...meow at us, and when we find her tries to walk /crawl out on the limb to us to reward her....well ther tree almost falls over. The anchor to the wall is a good idea as long as you have 2 points to anchor it to. I prefer to anchor it to the ceiling above the tree with fishing line. It's clear and won't be seen easily and the tree won't trip over very far. If hte line does not have much slack in it it might lean over, but stand itself back up. That's also why we wrap the ornament hangers around the limbs.... After the fisrt 2-3 years they stopped getting into the tree, now they sleep under it....Even when we load it up with presents. They eiher push them aroudn to make a spot or lay onto of the boxes (and one of our cats is 18lbs...Yikes!!!).
  20. How about a "home Brew" kit. He can brew his own beer...eventually. There is a lot of research in volved (tasting, and talking to specialty shops and brewers). Also, Alton Brown on the Food Network did a show on Brewwing beer and gives lots fo advise on who, what, when, where on the brewwing process. Either that or find a local brewer supply shop, and get him some info and see if there are otehrs in the area, like him, and they could join forces and order large quantities of beers and share them. There may also be beer tastings at local bars with micro-breweries in them.
  21. CompUSA also does a "Pre-Thanksgiving" sale on Wednesday evening from 6pm till Midnight. They usually have some good deal then as well. It's best to sign up on their website for the emails and you should get a notification on Monday or Tuesday about it. The flyer usually 3-4 pages, but one year it was a 6 page newpaper type AD. Typical sales include Laptops (2 or 3), Desktops (1 or 2), Cameras (3 or 4), Media (CD's, DVD's, memory and memory cards,etc...), lots of crappy software that's free after rebate, Usually a TV or two and DVD players, and DVD Drives, Hard Drives, and External drives. You have to get in line outside the store before it closes at 5pm to prepare for the sale. Then about 10-15 minutes before 6p, the staff comes out and starting at the front of the line will ask what you are in line to get and give you a voucher for the big ticket items. Then once the store opens, you go for the other non-voucher items you want, and then to the Business Sales Desk (at-least that's where it is at our store) to claim your big items with your voucher. Next it's off to checkout-hell, and the path to filling up your Credit card for the season. The past 4 or 5 years I've been within the first 20 people waiting in line. Last year I was the first person in line and it was sweet. I picked up sooo much stuff....
  22. Kevlar vest, knee pads, shin guards, tazer, and a hemlet with face shield.
  23. Go to Dick's Sporting goods (or another hunting / camping store ) and get a hikers or backpackers chair. They are very small, lightweight, and fold/unfold quickly and easily.
  24. Actually the best place is the state of Rhode Island. That have a state law that says retailers must give you the rebate on the spot. You do not have to mess with MIR, or On_line rebates. It doesnot matter what store it is, the store MUST give you the rebate about instantly and the store is responsible for submitting the rebate to recover their losses.
  25. CompUSA does their 6 hour sale the evening before Black Friday. If you're one of the lucky ones in the front of the line you're able to get a voucher for one of the many items on the sale ad. Those further back do not get them. It helps with the stampede and if yu're not wanting one of the "big items" someone else further back may have a chance at it. I really like that approach to the BF sales. Rather than have 10,000 people storm the store and cause a riot, and others stealing the itmes from you, it is really calm. I just wish they would do something about the checkout lines and make them go faster.
