momof5plus1hubby Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Do you take a book? Look at ads? Talk? What do you do to past the time?
sleepyshopper Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 We look at the ads and talk....make fun of the people behind us....you know the usual......
peachysquirt21 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Normally I only have to wait for around half hour or less for Target to open so I just talk to hubby. If it's too cold I go back to the van & warm up with mom. LOL
Cru Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Shivered alot last year........ I'm going to try and get a card game going this year if the weather cooperates!
Guest JeepMom Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I do wal mart so I gather up the other stores items I am price matching, then find a pallet, wait for someone to talk to, talk to strangers. Look at my ads.
FatRocky Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Our group is all college students that went to different schools so we catch up on old times and play cards and maybe watch a movie on someones laptop.
Kalel Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Read a book, play football, remember old times.....and sleep some hours....
caramel Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Watch other people still scrambling to find deals.
Christi Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Usually talk and last year we tried not to freeze. :-) We had taken a DVD player and put on Christmas music but the lady behind us asked us to turn it off, it was annoying. *humph*

kselzer Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 While shivering I usually read magazines, ads, or just talk to people
g-man430 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Play my PSP, look over ads, and talk to people.
CrayZMama80 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I talk a lot to ppl in line around me. Last year was the coldest, traded places a couple times with daughter that was keeping warm in my van. This year I am thinking of taking an mp3 player to listen to music. If I can not talk long enough to listen to it.
littlemama Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Play games on my cell phone, or read a magazine or book. This year I will probably be at Wal-Mart really early, so I will probably sleep.
tdanette Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Chat up the other folks in line- and try to fend off cutters
redjacket97 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 A) Talk to the other people in line. Take pictures with my cell phone of the line (last year's line at Target was crazy long!). C) Call Mom on the cell (she's at another store) and compare lines (she was at Sears last year, and people were pushing trying to get a free gift card). D) Look over the ads again and finalize my game plan (hit electronics first, then accessories, etc...) E) Enjoy complimentary hot cocoa. F) Curse (silently) at the people cutting the line (while glancing at the Sheriff's Deputy, who escorts the cutters to the end of the line).
stationchief Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I might sit and stare at the ads, but mostly we bring our laptop to watch DVDs and play videogames. We'll be in front of the line, so there's no problem with pluggin' it in.
Guest ladakn99 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 me and my friends are all planning to bring our laptops, with a LAN connection, and play Unreal Tournament with our speakers on full.

mccabefamily29 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Talk and look at ads, and re-look, and re-look..lol..making sure I didn't miss anything
Doctor Gonzo Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Freeze to death while we watch the employees inside the store laugh as they stare at us through the windows. Last year some of us pitched pennies against the outside of the ShopKo while we waited in line - scored a whole 18 cents before the store opened! Sweet!!!

Why would you go out CHRISTMAS shopping if ya don't wanna hear Christmas music???!!! I say get into the spirit or stay home.
Bestbuy7 Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Look at people , keep constant look at the time and listen to people's conversation.
Cecilliadb Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 How about books on tape??? I think that's what I will do whenI get the chance to stand in line. The library has loads of um.
omnicron Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 I usually stand and look at my watch every 10 minutes. If I'm lucky, I'll be next to someone who likes to talk, a lot. I don't mind listening. Well, Bah Humbug to that lady! Why would you go out CHRISTMAS shopping if ya don't wanna hear Christmas music???!!! I say get into the spirit or stay home. Not eveyone celebrates Christmas, sbwolfer. For a lot of people it's just regular shopping.
backpacktwc Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 It depends upon the store. Some stores you can see inside, especially if they are small, and plan your attack. Others, you can only sit and stare at ads. My most favorite thing is to watch all the late-comers thinking they're going to get a good buy. It's like watching chickens in the hen house with a fox chasing them. That's quite entertaining.

I wouldn't stop someone from playing Hannukah music or something near me in line. It is a festive time of the year.
