Length of Waiting

How long should you wait outside of Wal-Mart before it opens to ensure you will be getting a "hot" deal???

Are Walmart Supercenters the way to go even if you have one about 30 miles away as the closest???

Do the normal Wal-Marts have the Black Friday special as soon as they open? Do you have to camp out if you are going to a normal Wal-Mart???

Last year it opened at like 6:00, I showed up at like 5:00 and got the sales on the dvd's that I wanted. My friend who came with me got a digital camera she wanted. All the laptops were gone and people had been in line for those since about 1:00 AM. For everything else though we were there in plenty of time, but the time just varies on your location.

I have decided that I am going to a Wal-Mart Supercenter because it is so cold waiting outside. It is open 24 hours, but the Black Friday specials start at 6am. When should I arrive to get the BEST deals??? I am going to a Super Wal-Mart in Frederick, MD if anyone is familiar with that store.

Prior to our wal-mart becomming a super center I was there about 3:00am and was usually one of the first in line...Always got what we wanted.

Now we have a super center open 24 hours I get there at 10:30 for the midnight maddness early bird specials, they very from store to store so we will hit 2-3 different ones. Than we usually have 5-6 pp w/ us and we each stand in line in front of the blitz item needed(we grab for each other if possible and there is no limit). Yes the lines do start early about 3:30 or so. But at least we are not waiting out in the cold.

We got there at 11pm and were 3 and 4 in line for the laptops last year. We got everything on our list. :) We also did alot of pricematching, people behind me checking out hated me for holding up the line, oh well. Can't wait to do it again.

I have gone to our local Wal-Mart Supercenter (they are open 24 hours) the last three years in a row. It works like this (at least here in Spring Hill, FL):

When you come in they give you a map of the store showing where each of the "blitz" items are (they aren't always in the department they would normaly be in ie: last year they had the DVD's on a pallet in the grocery section).

You then join the group of "vultures" hovering around the item you are interested in. :eyepoppin A Wal-Mart employee is standing guard.

Now here's where the fun starts :yelclap:

At 6am the poor unsuspecting Wal-Mart employee gets a radio call that it is 6am and the free-for-all begins! The Wal-Mart employee attempts to cut the shrink wrap off of the pallet only to be pushed aside and trampled upon.

I actually saw an employee get hurt 2 years ago over a crock pot. Kind of sad when you think about it. Especially when all of this occurs all in the name of Holiday Cheer. :holiday01

This is all true at my store except the associates being trampled upon. We have had customers bring their own cutters to remove the plastic at 6 am and others try to rip the plastic off right at 6. They are all told once to back off. After that its bye bye impatient jerk as they are escorted out the door :) Those with their own box knives dont even get the warning.

The Supercenter I am going to is open 24 hours, but I BELIEVE things will become available at 6am. Is this possible???

Mine won't let you put doorbusters in your buggy either. We usually get there around 3-4am and pick up stuff that we want to pricematch. They usually is hardly anyone in the store at this time.

Even with doing this, I was still the 2nd person in line for a computer last year.

I have 2 questions:

1. What is blitz???

2. What is the BF policy for the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Frederick, MD??? If no one knows, how could I find out??? I mainly want to know when the deals become available, what time to be there for the hot deals, and if they are doing vouchers in a first come, first served basis for any of their items.

I always go around 12-12:30am. Mine lets you get stuff off of the pallets and then just wait till Blitz time to checkout. So by 2am Im completely done and just waiting to checkout. Love the way this manager runs things at mine

Man, I wish my walmart would do that. They have an employee standing on all 4 sides of each pallet and if you get close enough to breath on it they are telling you to move back, lol.

Could someone PLEASE answer this??? They will not let me speak to the manager at my local Supercenter, and if I go over, it'll cost me 45-60 minutes just to get there.

Only thing you can't touch last year was the GameBoy Advances, Dvd Players, and Laptops. Those people were in line for in store. Everything else such as appliances, toys, clothes, etc were in the main aisles and employees opened them up. Every 10 minutes or so they would make an announcement about customers were able to put any Blitz item on the floor in their carts, but couldn't checkout till 6am.

The best thing to do is to call. I don't have any other suggestions if you can't get through.

It all depends on the item(s) you are hoping to get....The bigger electronic items I would suggest the earlier the better......If it is toys and small appliances, etc you are after....then you usually do not have to show up extremely earlier....Wal-Mart usually has enough of those items to go around.

Good luck though!!
