ReallyNeatGirl Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Hi!! I'm a newbie, just to let you know and I was just wondering something. I feel guilty shopping on Black Friday, for one big reason. One, I don't celebrate christmas (I'm jewish) so I feel as if I am taking advantage of something I shouldn't. Sure I may purchase something that is "left over", from the day (or week) before that is still at that price, but I know that many, many people rely on these great sales to get their kids and others good gifts for the holidays. Am I crazy?
peachysquirt21 Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I dont think your crazy. If I was Jewish & saw bargains on BF I would go out & buy what I wanted. I dont think it's a big deal. I wouldnt feel guilty. If you see someting you want, go buy it. Have a fun BF. :)
copados1993 Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Don't feel guilty for getting more for your money! Enjoy making your dollars go far.
Bunniq Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 No don't feel guilty. Most of the bargins I find I use all year long as gifts.
ReallyNeatGirl Posted October 12, 2006 Author Posted October 12, 2006 No don't feel guilty. Most of the bargins I find I use all year long as gifts.I never thought of it that way. lol Also I used to work at walmart. It sucks working that day. Maybe though if I find a SUPER good deal.
Christy Garner Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Don't feel guilty at all. The other shoppers have just as much advantage as you do to go out and get the deals. You go and save money. Have fun doing it.
krissy72 Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 And here I thought just us Catholics had the whole guilt thing wrapped up. Go, shop, be merry oh, and guilt free.
ReallyNeatGirl Posted October 12, 2006 Author Posted October 12, 2006 And here I thought just us Catholics had the whole guilt thing wrapped up. Go, shop, be merry oh, and guilt free.I just know that if some lady hits me over the head (again) because she NEEDS that doll for her daughter for Christmas I'm high-tailing it. I may like bargains, but not that much

Gurnee Al Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 My wife's birthday is on 12/4, and I use BF to score some great birthday gifts at low prices.
shanni Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 And here I thought just us Catholics had the whole guilt thing wrapped up. Go, shop, be merry oh, and guilt free.LOL! I couldn't agree more:D
Edgemonster Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Don't feel guilty. Everybody needs to save money on things they need or want. Why should you be left out? That's the best day to save.
bayhaysay Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 You shouldn't feel guilty at all! IMO BF is a religion of it's own that we can all be a part of.
blakes_mommy Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Listen, I am Jewish who has catholic/jew kids... (By choice) Trust me, it can work. No guilt here. Are you kidding, I would knock someone out if I needed too. Enjoy! Have fun... Irregardless of who we are and what we believe, we love our family and want to give all we can. Black Friday is a way to do it without going broke, ok, sometimes!
pogiporkchop Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I agree, no reason to feel guilty :) A sale is a sale and I can't imagine anyone not loving a chance to save some money.
vonnyb Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Don't feel guilty... All of the stores are more than happy to take all of our money;)
bigjimslade Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Hi!! I'm a newbie, just to let you know and I was just wondering something. Am I crazy? I am Jewish and been doing BF for about 4 years now. Dont feel guilty. Join in the fun! BF is a family thing at our house and we have Jews, Christians and Hindu's in our family. We even had a HinJew wedding over the summer for my cousin since he married a Indian female. Remember.....You have 8 days to shop for!!!!
jellybean051901 Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 First come first serve. It doesn't matter what the gift is for.
stockmanjr Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I'm jewish too but I can never pass up a deal :-D
conj Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 no religious affiliation to BF. The only thing you should feel guilty about is proving the stereotype - we are cheap! But so isn't everyone on this board! Whoo hoo!
Cecilliadb Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I don't even think BF is about Christmas at all except those who are out there buying for gifts. I will be getting alot of things that arent gifts but just things I want or need if they happen to be on sale :)
Marcster Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Don't feel guilty!!! If anyone should, it should be me -- 99% of the stuff I buy on BF is for me or my wife, not as Christmas presents.
Secret Squirrel Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I'm not Jewish, but first, I think all the ads say "...Holiday Shopping"... and 2nd...(pardon my ignorance), don't Jewish people celebrate Hannukah with gift-giving, decorating, etc???
santaclaus Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 First off, you are a nice person. Go on out, shop till you drop, save some money. I can kind of understand where you are coming from though. I would love to have one of those new Elmos but I don't think I could bring myself to buy one because I would feel like I was knocking some child out of getting one.
guilliam Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I'm not jewish, but I buy what I want that's cheap on BF even if it's NOT a Christmas gift! SO enjoy the craziness regardless of your religion etc! And the stores don't care as long as they get your money!!LOL:D
elena_398 Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 BF deals are for everyone. Thats why we all don't buy then for gifting. We buy for ourselves too! So go ahead and get those bargains and enjoy.
Mursilis Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 no religious affiliation to BF.Shopaholicism isn't a religion? It should be!! :)
KellyGT Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I say if your brave enough to go out to the stores on BF then you deserve whatever you can find! lol:)
