NeepNeep Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 At Thanksgiving dinner, my SO's brother thought we had lost our mind. His exact phrase was "you are totally bonkers". He couldn't understand why anyone would wait in line to buy anything... until Xmas day when I announced that most of the gifts his family received were purchased on BF. We haven't converted them yet to BF shopping, but we're working on it :)
shanni Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I've actually got some people into it, but so many still think I'm insane!
starshine Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 My mom who used to go with me thinks I'm nuts for going so early in the morning. My husband just shakes his head as I head out the door.
Marcster Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 My wife used to think I was nuts, but she's gone with me for the past two years. But, I'd NEVER get her into a "first tier" store like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. And about an hour is the most she'll "camp out" for... But, that's pretty close to my limits too, so it's OK.
stationchief Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Most of my family/friends appreciates me sending 'em the ads early, however they think I'm outta my mind wanting to wait in line the night before. They thought I was 'bonkers' when I told 'em I waited in line for 5 hours at Wal-Mart last year. My response? I'm the one with the cheap laptop, not them!
Novac Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Most of my family shakes their head in bewilderment when they find out I started my BF shopping at 11 pm the night of Thanksgiving and finished a bit after noon on the following day . . . then they curse me for all the deals I got that they didn't.
bugsette Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 yes. most of my family thinks I'm nuts... I did get a few friends interested in it
alimfp Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 It's like sweepstaking - they think you're nuts until you win something. So with BF, they think I am nuts until I come home with a darn good deal.
stationchief Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I gotta admit, we're all nuts for wanting to wait in lines overnite in freezing cold weather. But we're also the ones who are gonna be gettin' those deals. What's really nuts is coming to the stores after they open and expecting those big sale items to still be there.

Rebirth Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I am sure that most people call others "nuts" for doing something out of the ordinary or buying something expensive.
nancy_7997 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Yeah most of my Friends & Family think im nuts for camping out so early.
JoannR Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 My whole family!! But my Mom says this year she just might see what my obsession is all about:D
kmbrly Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Nope, they don't think I'm nuts. They try to send shopping lists with me, and then call me all night to "keep me company".

bayhaysay Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Yeah, they probably do but I always end up picking stuff up for them because they don't want to go out on BF.

Gurnee Al Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 My family used to think I was nuts, but last year my wife and younger daughter joined me in the BB line. My relatives think I'm crazy, but then they're jealous to hear what I bought at the prices I bought them for.
jason Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 I love bf. i make my family go they say they hate but i think they enjoy. especially when they r getting something. but other than them, when i tell someone bout it they either say what the heck is bf or u r crazy
love2beurwifey Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 My brother in law and my SO thinks that we are out of our mind when we go shopping that early and have to deal with the crowd. My brother in law went last year for the first time. He said he will never go again and would rather stay home and watch everyones kids
shopping mom Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Some do some don't, it depends. Usually if I get them to goonce they love it. My mom is really sad that she can not go this year, but she will be looking at the ads and telling me what to buy.

Gporter34 Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 My mother goes with me and everyone else is just happy with what they get, so they don't think I'm nuts any more. Well, since I spent the night in WalMart last BF, they are kind of wondering about me again!LOL
arieslove Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Dh thought I was nutz, until I told him we didn't have to get dd anything for her bday cause I'd bought it all last Nov LOL. Her bday was in August.
NeepNeep Posted September 24, 2006 Author Posted September 24, 2006 Heh. If we can actually get my SO's brother to go, I think I'm gonna make him a t-shirt that says "Black Friday Virgin".
Christy Garner Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 I have a few friends who think I am nuts but my best friend LOVES to shop on BF like I do. We have a blast and get a lot of deals.
StephanieD Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 They think I'm nuts until they want me to pick something up for them. LOL

fairydustcrissy Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 are you kidding EVERYONE in my family does it!!when we are together for the thanksgiving meal the day before we are all looking at flyers and discussing... however,,when someone gets married or brings a SO with them that person thinks the ENTIRE FAMILY is totally crazySame here able! We spend that Thursday looking over the ads, planning what stores to be at at what times, etc. Its a family tradition here! Our little caravan includes me, my sister, my mom, my aunt, my grandma :) We all head out and meet up around 4am, in line by 4:30. Of course, with thoise times we dont hit the "big" places until last, but so far they havent had anything i needed. My family has already started asking when ads will be coming in this year! ETA: all the husbands (including my own) think we are totally insane.
