stevierocks Posted November 24 Posted November 24 This is the first year I actually feel like I am . 72 gifts wrapped ! ( plus wrapped a few for my ss ! ) my goal is to wrap them as they come in. Know why I am ahead ? I had a dream that it was Christmas morning and everything went wrong and I didn’t even have gifts ordered . And nothing wrapped . So I guess the dream will not be reality . plus … I had a double concussion , and have not been to zumba or going out and getting stuff done .. so plenty of time to wrap . 4
HanShotFirst Posted November 25 Posted November 25 I’m almost done with my shopping. Need a couple of gift cards and a gift still for my Dad. Have ideas, just have to get out there and find them. I bought wrapping paper and bows already so I’m in good shape I think. Being unemployed sure helps with free time but obviously not in the finance department. 3
bluebear Posted November 25 Posted November 25 I have made good progress shopping. Some people are about done like my 3 kids and 3 grandkids and husband. Others, like my mom and step dad and sister, I still have no ideas for. I have not done any wrapping. I use my son's room for wrapping, so when he leaves on Friday after visiting for Thanksgiving, I'll set up the table and bring all the wrapping supplies out. Also, I am an "even number of presents to open" person. So I sometimes wait to wrap some things, to see if I need to put 2 related things together, or wrap them separately. The last several years I have done pretty good with keeping up with wrapping though. One year, everyone was waiting to open presents, and I was downstairs wrapping about 15 presents. Yikes. So I'll never let that happen again! I'm ready to get started though, and get them out of my son's room and under the tree! Which isn't up yet. 3
wittenlover Posted November 25 Posted November 25 I am, as usual, slow to get going on my SS shopping but... I do have a couple things already. The rest, I'll be getting this week/weekend. Dad and I are to a point where we trade gift cards to our fave stores (he's a fisherman, gives him an excuse to replace worn out gear/lures/etc.), so he's easy. Brother and his wife live out of state and are just getting settled into their finally finished new house, so they're not sure what else they may need just yet. Therefore, GC for them as well, to use as they see fit. Likely will send some homemade cookies along with it, just because. Got baking to do for basically everyone else on my list, so not quite time to start that yet. That'll get started next week. 1
Bopeep Posted November 25 Posted November 25 I was just telling my sister, it seems the more I buy the longer my list of still need gets! I try to keep the grands pretty even, and the grown up kids pretty even, in terms of # of gifts (they don't have to be exact, but close). When I look at the # of gifts I still need to buy, it feels like it should have been my starting #. LOL I envy those of you that wrap as you go. I just can't do it. Even though I keep lists, and would mark it off as I wrapped it, I would still be second guessing myself and unwrapping stuff to make sure it is what I think it is. So after all the shopping is done and all the candy is made and all the cookies are baked, I dedicate 1 day to nothing but wrapping. I hate wrapping, LOL, so my sisters come to help. We make cocoa and have a good day just hanging out together and doing my chore. 2

I don't mind wrapping but the older I have gotten the worse it is on my poor back. 2
Kanyon71 Posted November 26 Posted November 26 We have some gifts purchased, some on order, some in cart waiting to be ordered. Ordered a Dyson Air Wrap for my wife yesterday, ordered a couple things to go along with it. Will be ordering some things for family out of town soon and will get that sent out in the next couple of weeks. 1
BFGirl Posted November 26 Posted November 26 In the past almost all gifts for my kids and husband were bought on BF and then Cyber Monday. This year I ordered gifts from Amazon's early BF sale on Saturday. When I was scouting out the BF sale at Walmart, I saw some clearanced items that I ordered. All of those orders arrived this afternoon. I was not expecting that! I think this is the earliest I had so many gifts in the house. I was hoping to wrap them tonight but I got caught up in the Walmart sale. I will be wrapping on BF after shopping in the stores. I try to get as much done on that day as possible. I am a geek when it comes to tracking gifts and wrapping them. I have a spread sheet with the names of family. Underneath their name is gift ideas and links to those items. Next to the gift idea is the cost of the item. I color code the items that have been ordered online "Red." This means I am waiting for it to arrive. Once the item is in the house (bought in person or delivered), it gets colored "Yellow." When the item is wrapped, then it gets color coded "Green." It is ready to go. 2
nini Posted November 26 Posted November 26 I wish! I’m definitely no where near done but I have a few things crossed off my list. My sister just finished her shopping this past weekend & will probably have it all wrapped by the end of the week. I definitely missed that gene! 2
jennyrn Posted November 26 Posted November 26 I am CLOSE to being finished and everything I have purchased prior to today and been wrapped! This is a first for me, but necessary because I will be out of town during the weeks leading to Christmas. It still feels overwhelming but I am happy I am keeping up! 3
Hubbalance Posted December 1 Posted December 1 no, because apparently I am the only one who cares about Christmas gifts, and I was too wiped to bug people ahead of time. Plus vacation on BF meant I ordered gifts tonight. And still have more. Ugh.
stevierocks Posted December 3 Author Posted December 3 Well well . … I should have known that somehow I was preparing so well so early was for some reason . :(! My mom had a biopsy of her lung , that caused blood clots in her lung and they caused a stroke . She’s been in the hospital a week . And can’t use or feel her left side . She can’t talk . Only mumble . But she knows what is going on and what she wants . . It’s hard for my dad too. So I have to be there for the two of them . Makes being ahead of the game a HUGE plus .as I may not have the time or energy to wrap or shop . I literally only bought 1 order online in Black Friday , and didn’t go shopping at all . And nothing really worthwhile on today cyber Monday . So good thing I had a good start . I’m praying for her to have a decent amount of recovery , and understand it may take time . just after I recovered from a. Double concussion . But least of my worries now . 4
