Tessangel Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 I love the fact that Target sends all of there left over clearence items to Goodwill. I got this hammock http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_1/601-9807393-4395345?%5Fencoding=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000B6FJYA which sells for $329.00 at target. Guess how much I payed for it???
Aaron Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Yes, the "Dollar Spot" items can be found after they leave the stores for .25 cents at Goodwill Stores. Find your local Goodwill Store! - http://locator.goodwill.org/
alimfp Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Target always gives their leftovers to Goodwill - which I hate, because Goodwill marks them up 5x what Target had them marked down too.
Tessangel Posted August 20, 2006 Author Posted August 20, 2006 Bugsette was right. I payed 20 bucks for it!!!
jadedmomof2 Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 We don't have a local Goodwill, so the items from my local Targets get sent to a local chain of thrift stores instead. Just yesterday, I got a Batman Leapster game at the thrift store for $4. It was definitely a Target item. My favorite is not the clearanced items, but the items that can not be reshelved for some reason or another when they've been returned. I got my husband an FM tuner for his Ipod, $8.45 because the cord to plug it into a cigarette lighter was missing. Not a biggie, he mostly used it at work and just used a AAA battery in it instead. That FM tuner is regularly $49 at Target.

BCBGirl Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I drove by the local Goodwill two days ago. It was funny because all the cars in the parking lot were BMW's and Audi's. Hummm... Makes me wonder.
SHILOHONE11 Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Every Quarter They Have A 50% Off Everything Saturday And I Have Gotten Some Really Good Stuff From Target There Dirt Cheap. But You Have To Run Back There Quick Cause Everyone Else Has The Same Idea!!!!
Stowasser Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Do targets always send to the local thrift stores? Anyone know besides Goodwill which others, we have Salvation Army but don't go in there often
laffnatu Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I drove by the local Goodwill two days ago. It was funny because all the cars in the parking lot were BMW's and Audi's. Hummm... Makes me wonder. There's a really nice Goodwill about 25 miles or so from me that always has really nice cars sitting out front. It seems to get most of the nicer stuff in the area. Great deal on the hammock! I would love to have one..but only if I could pay 20 bucks for it.
laffnatu Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Do targets always send to the local thrift stores? Anyone know besides Goodwill which others, we have Salvation Army but don't go in there often I don't know. They seem to only donate to Goodwills in our area. I would call the SA and ask if they receive donations from Target.
snakeswiff Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I got this for my sons room @ Goodwill, I am not sure why it was there, it is perfect, no flaws...... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y34/snakeswiff/ottoman.jpg At Target it is 49.99, I got it for 7 bucks!!!!!!
lennon2004 Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 My sister is a social worker for Goodwill, so let me take this time to remind you that besides being a good place to find things, Goodwill also takes donations of clothes/toys you may not need anymore. :)
momof2many Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Ours all goes to the Salvation Army store down here. I didnt go in, but I might next week. I noticed as I walked by the red tags! And the shoes I bought for my son there!!!
Aaron Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I think the Target returns go somewhere else besides Goodwill here, I can't remember.
d2qrjq Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Target always gives their leftovers to Goodwill - which I hate, because Goodwill marks them up 5x what Target had them marked down too. Per the staff at our Goodwill, Target SELLS it to Goodwill. They do not donate.
mstacks Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Per the staff at our Goodwill, Target SELLS it to Goodwill. They do not donate.Well, personally I think that's tackey of Target. Aside from the good PR if word got out that they *gave* away their leftovers, I'd think they could get more bang for the buck if they donated and took a tax write-off than they could by selling the stuff to them! As for "where" they send the stuff, it may be a local thing. I don't believe I've ever seen anything in most of the central AR Goodwill's and Sal.Army's I go to that were identifiably fresh Target stock. May be wrong of course. ;0
Tessangel Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 I personally doubt that they "sell" anything to goodwill. Not only is that extremely tacky but it wouldn't be in there best interest. They can get a bigger tax write off then they could from selling it. If you think of the prices at goodwill there is no way they could buy it.
Crazy Mama Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I would think that too, they they'd donate and get the tax write off, otherwise why not just keep marking it down in the store?
Steakgoddess Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 All you have to do is do a search in google and you will see that Target donates to Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.
elena_398 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 when my daughter was in diapers I bought them there all the time. Every Tuesday the Target truck comes. I bought the HUGE packs of Pampers or Huggies (different each week) for $4.99 and wipes (big boxes) were prices at $1. I haven't been down there in a long time, but when I better and can drive, I will start going down there on Tuesdays. You really have to be there when they first open up though.
knb080998 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Is this a special sale that they have on Tuesdays? We could use some savings on diapers!
jadedmomof2 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Is this a special sale that they have on Tuesdays? We could use some savings on diapers! It all depends on when your store gets the truck from Target in. I know for us, diapers and such don't go to the thrift stores, they are donated elsewhere.
momof2many Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I never even thought of the possibility of diapers at the sal. and good. stores...maybe I should check!
