  1. Check your WalMart stores. Last week one of the storesr me (central AR) had them anywhere from $20 up, And accessories anywhere from $10 to over $60. Oh, and don't-cha-luv WalMart's "logic": That same store also had more MH dolls in the HALLOWEEN COSTUME ASILE! MaryT
  2. Does anybody know if we luckless victims have any recourse against these uncaring idiots? How much does ups/fedex balk when a claim is filed because of package damages caused by their own people?
  3. In a word...yes. Okay, so the bomb squad happens to have a cop friend of mine working on it and he'd probably come over on his lunch hour or something to check it out before he made an actual blow-it-up trip. But when you've been the victim of 5 burglarys in 2 years - and know the drugged up creeps - the thought remains true: If I can't identify the package I call the cops. :)
  4. Scam artists and crooks.....and terrorists. Personally, considering some areas I've lived in, if somebody in an unmarked car and jeans simply knocked on my door and then dropped a package and left....MY next action would be to call the BOMB SQUAD! LOL!
  5. I meant to mention this back last week when I first heard it, but 'real life' got in the way, and I just now thought about it again. By now you may all already have heard about it, so feel free to delete if desired. (I ran a search but didn't find anything already posted.) I *think* it was on the Today show that I heard this guy and his mention of gottadeal as one of the best black friday sites. http://pcmike.com/interesting-web-sites/early-peek-at-black-friday-holiday-shopping-sites wherever it was, good publicity is good publicity! Mary
  6. Wish I'd seen this one in time! I don't need today's pressure washer, but this one I could have used!
  7. Starting this soon has gotta increase the numbers. I'm guesstimating 5142 Threads and 83,289 posts. Oh, yeah: Love the Trout Slap, Ross!!!!!!!!! :)

    YEA!!!!!

Were those MyPoints cards specific to a store or were they a WebCertificate? I was thinking about getting one of the WebCertificates that are good just about anywhere, because I'm not sure where I'll be shopping this year. But if I'm reading the webcertificates site correctly you have to pay for them.
  9. What would be the minimum machine specs to handle a dual monitor set up? I'd love to have two screens available, for the tv idea above or maybe carry on an IM conversation with the grands on one screen while I search for the information we're talking about on the other screen. I'm counting pennies trying to stash back enough for a new computer. It's slow going and I'll need as cheeeep as possible...but ohhhh that dual monitor setup sounds gooood!
  10. Well, personally I think that's tackey of Target. Aside from the good PR if word got out that they *gave* away their leftovers, I'd think they could get more bang for the buck if they donated and took a tax write-off than they could by selling the stuff to them! As for "where" they send the stuff, it may be a local thing. I don't believe I've ever seen anything in most of the central AR Goodwill's and Sal.Army's I go to that were identifiably fresh Target stock. May be wrong of course. ;0
  11. Have you checked the Kitchenaid web site? You can usually find excellent prices on refurbished machines there, and whatever "rebates" KA is currently offering will be listed there too.
  12. Are you a member of Freecycle in your local area? I know several people who have given/received fencing from that list.
  13. Because in a lot of places Direct or Dish are 'the only ball game in town', neither company gives a hoot if you stay or not. They figure once they've got you hooked you'd rather take their s##t than drop them. Especially when it comes to adding things. But it didn't work with my sisterinlaw: She had Dish with two connections, in her Living Room and her sewing room. Then daughter moved in with them and they wanted an additional connection for her bedroom. Dish said sure they'd add a receiver...for $150 payable up front! She pointed out to them that their then-current promotion was offering up to 4 units free. They said that was new customers only, she already had an account so she would be charged for any changes. No offers, no deals, just "it'll cost you". Soooo...it "cost" her ten minutes of her time to talk to DIRECT-TV and arrange for 4 receivers, more programing than she had had, and several dollars LESS monthly rate! :) She said then Dish had the nerve to call and ask why she was canceling them!
  14. That's a 400 outlay and no waaaiitttting forever for a rebate that may or may not show. I like! I just hope it's still available when I go to town tomorrow.
  15. Did I miss something? I don't see Win-XP listed at all, on the shopnbc machine. What's the OS if it's not XP?
  16. Oh Please keep posting. When hubby says "...What, Again??..." in "that" tone of voice, then this way we've got perfectly good reasons for going. <grin>
  17. Went to our wally-world yesterday. Not one sign of sale prices on beach towels. Grrrr. But the $12.95 ones were PROMINENTLY displayed!
  18. KitaKaT, thanks for that LandsEnd info. It haddn't occurred to me to check there. With them shipping so quickly I can actually get a couple towels here before I get desperate for them in a couple weeks! :) Oh, and I sympathize with you. The last time I saw somebody 4' at 5yrs.old, he was 6'2" at 12yr.old. He finally "topped out" a few years later: at 6'8"!!! Try to buy clothes - or beach/bath towels! - for that! He *is* kinda handy for changing light bulbs, though! Biomajor, at least your stores are seperate towns, so I can understand the price logic. But I've seen two stores in the SAME town be that different! They're only about three or four miles apart as the crow flies, but on different sides of town, one 'old established' area and one 'new fast-growing' area. Confusing in the extreme the first time I went to both the same day, but now I like it. It's just that many more bargains for me to scoop up. :)
  19. Ohhhh Myyyyy! I LOVE that BigAssTowels logo! But I'm trying to behave with the money, so it looks like I might have to make a trip to Sam's Club, instead. (Ohhhh how terrible!!!!! ) Thanks for the help, both of you! :)
  20. Thanks for the size. That'll be too short for him to stretch out on, but I might run get a couple anyway for me. Anyboody know if they still even make the old 72" (6') ones? I havent seen them in years.
  21. Could someone measure one of those towels for me, please? A lot of the WM beach towels are just plain too short to do TALL Son any good. If they're long enough I wouldn't mind an excuse to go to town, but there's no need wasting the gas otherwise. LOL! TIA Mary
  22. Biomajor, I gave up on getting the ads in the mail in time. Now I just subscribe to the WalMart email. They send you notices when new ads come out and link you to the ad. :) And you can always pull up any current ad from the WalMart home page. Don't remember exactly, but I think it's about half-way down on the far right side of the homepage. Says "this week's circular" or "show me this week's ad", or something similiar.
  23. Considering it's supposed to be a Father's Day promotion, it seems like they could have leaned a little more toward "dad would love this" than "kids love superman". Disappointing.
  24. They used to be waaaaaay more generous with their on-line items. When they first started this I can remember having to choose from 20-30 items or more. Dunno why they got so extremely skimpy on products lately, maybe it just wasn't taken advantage of enough to warrant continuing it. <shrug>. It's disappointintg, but still nice on the items they do offer.
  25. Found this under the clearances while I was prowling the site trying to find *anything* my size. LOL! Half price :-) Wrong size. :-( http://www.onehanesplace.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce/ProductDisplay?prnbr=PX4377&cgnbr=AC10000000
