Gloey
I was surfing and found this site with the most incredible Monopoly games I never knew existed...Rudolph Monopoloy, I Love Lucy, Batman and on and on. They are on sale now and there are plenty of other games too. Thought you might like a look for Christmas shopping. I created an account so maybe I will get a special deal of some sort *hopes.* http://www.boardgamesusa.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=

Bunniq
Themes and special edition boards. We are hoping to find an original game or two from 1935 to buy. Our niece wants to start a collection, and we would love to get her started with an original.

KBsDarling
we hit alot of estate sales its the best place to pick them up cause 9 times out of 10 people think o its just an old game and dont even bother...kinda funny though when there are 2-3 that know what one is worth and the shock on peoples faces around when bidding goes so high
mywarmbluefleece
Our thrift store always has good board games for a dollar or two. I have never gotten one with a missing peice!
Bunniq
Thank you for the ideas. I will have to try ebay and estate sales in the area. I have gotten lucky and found a 1961 Monopoly game in a thrift store. I will try the thrift store route again. Silly me never thought to look on ebay. Also thinking of getting the Make Your Own Monopoly from the site mentioned in this thread.
brynnfromtheblock
i use to have a make your own monopolyI made one of these for my cousin for Christmas, we called it Familyopoly... the problem was we couldn't play it with anyone else because we used family "events" for the chance cards and as funny as they were, other family members might not think they were so funny.... We had a blast playing one even though... My cousin is gay so one of the chance cards was Win $500.00 for coming out of the closet, Lose $1000.00 because Uncle Rick gets drunk at a family wedding etc..... Very bawdy but funny none the less!!!
Jennifer0530
I collect monopoly games too! I have a couple that are not on that site like Scooby Doo, Ford Mustang Collector's Edition (could only buy at a Ford Dealership), Original Disney one in the tin case, The Diamond Edition, Times Square, and Original NASCAR. This is pretty sad but I own all these special edition ones but not a 'plain' monopoly! I normally buy two of each, one to open and play with and the other gets put up until I can get a cabinet to display them in. Check out this auction I just found! http://cgi.ebay.com/Antique-Monopoly-No-25-De-Luxe-Edition_W0QQitemZ220019889410QQihZ012QQcategoryZ19095QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
KBsDarling
lmao we usually get 2 as well though we dont buy 2 right away We will buy the one to keep for nice and then wait for clearence/yard sale season to hit to get open ones.. It isnt a true monopoly but does anyone have the triopoly with the 3 tier board? We play this all the time. just love the heck out of it
shopping mom
I have start walking in the mall and I notice one of the camera stores, Ritz Camera I think and they were advertising a pictopoly. You use your own pictures and information to make your own version of monopoly. If you want more details I will go in there one day soon and see what I can find out. It looked pretty neat in the window.

figarotigger
Meijers in Columbus OH is clearancing the 70th edition Monopoly for $9.98 in the collectors tin-original price is $39.95-Great deal if you want another set. Picked up one for my mother today-should I get one for me too? They also had a "deluxe" edition for the same price. Is it only the "theme" ones that are worth money? Is it only the "theme" ones that are worth money?I think most places are now clearancing that 70th anniversary for around that price...funny thing is is that my sister paid that price on Black Friday last year... But yeah i think certain themed ones are worth more than others...but it depends on whjat you like and how much you are willing to pay for it. And yes you should get one for yourself if you are tlaking about the deluxe edition...the peices in there are nice to use for other monolpoly games, etc...really nice set! (has round deed holder and some other goodies in there)
