I always start craving Black Friday about this time of year. I don't know if it's because I'm looking forward to fall temps or because companies have started talking about Christmas in July :).

Going through the files on this old laptop and finding spreadsheets from the BF charts years ago, 2011 maybe along with my shopping excel sheets 🤣Fun times. Hopefully I'll have a new laptop before black friday otherwise that'll be on my to do list. This brick weighs double as much as my soon to disappear work laptops, runs Windows 7 awfully and is super slow. I'd say its probably double the size too. Crazy how technology keep improving. Thankful my phone does most things, a laptop would just be a convenience mostly

I got banned from buying too much for the grandbabies this year 😞  They have too many people spoiling them.  So this year is going to be pretty light.  Actually looking at less "things" and more experiences for them...it would be nice if zoos, museums did black friday deals on their memberships (but I know they are non profit and need all they get).

Our zoo has a family membership which could be an idea for them. Not sure I've seen a BF deal but we do get mailers every so often with discount options and I there's a (summer?) program that includes entry over so many weeks, again may not be available locally to you.

Anyone else who has teenagers that do NOT have any big ticket items on their wish list this year? My kid has had some very fortunate Xmas in recent years and all of his big ticket items have been checked off already. While this is good for the wallet, it's bad for the Xmas tree...

Been there, done that.  I kind of cycle Desktop->iPhone->Laptop->Something I spend eleven months thinking about.  To be honest, that eleven months is closer to 47.

Yeah, my DD was talking about a nice vacation or cruise. I might do that, but still would like to have the tree full as well. Kind of hard.

Yes... I think we are going to do one of the Disney World parties and keep the actual items low this year.

Our local science center and the aquarium do Cyber Monday sales! The science center is like half off a family membership, aquarium was all season passes were the child price so $50 a year or a family pass with extra passes and "free" stuffed animal voucher was $300? The zoo sometimes does sales too, but it's usually more buy a membership get an extra one day guest pass or an extra % off in the gift shop the day you buy it.

And the local kid play places often have sales too. I'd ask on a local Facebook page and see what sales have happened in the past. My mom renews our aquarium and zoo passes for the kids main Christmas present and I'm planning on getting them the science center membership if I can catch the sale price

That's a great idea.

You mean... trying to get gas after a hurricane. My goodness.

THAT is the worst part I can remember but even prep was ridiculous and we're so far South it wasn't really serious even. So thankful we weren't affected and most friends that were had power restored by midday Sunday. Still have 2 without power and near Tampa so probably having a hell of a time getting gas for generator. There's a gas buddy gas/power tracker for stations if you need it: https://tracker.gasbuddy.com/ Friend locally managed to drive into a sinkhole earlier while trying to avoid flooding, still waiting for county/state to get car out otherwise apparently it's not covered by insurance. Unless it was caused by broken pipe UNDER road no idea how that would've happened here.
