Let's discuss smart watches please

I am in the market for a smart watch for someone else. The person doesn’t have a phone so I don’t need that. However, I do need the activity tracker, sleep/wake tracker, and the heart rate monitor would be nice. I’m looking at the Fitbit charge 5. However, I heard Garmin is good too and the Venu is $100 off right now.

Any suggestions or opinions?

Im looking into this as well. Ive had a Fitbit Charge and I liked it. I have been looking into the one from Amazon, the Amazfit GTS 2: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08HR8V12C/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

If anyone has an opinion or knows someone who has one, please let me know. :)

This one doesnt require a phone (I think): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PCYKXV5/ref=syn_sd_onsite_desktop_77?psc=1&pd_rd_plhdr=t&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzTjJXOVdJM1hGSktKJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwOTE0NTY1M01XMFJQMk5GV1ROOSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNTY2Nzk3Mks0SkxMM0Q1U1NMUiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNkX29uc2l0ZV9kZXNrdG9wJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

Anxiously waiting to see what the best deal is on a Samsung Galaxy 4 is........

I got the Galaxy Watch 4 from Amazon a few weeks ago bundled with a wireless charger for the same price as the watch alone. Actually, it was $249 so I guess less (thanks GottaDeal!). So maybe watch Amazon for that deal again.

If you don’t need it to work with a phone. I say Fitbit is the way to go. I absolutely loved mine before I went to an Apple Watch.

Agree about the Fitbit - it's a reliable, high quality tracker. I have an Inspire 2, and it tracks sleep, hr, exercise, steps, etc. Super easy to use, and there are plenty of Fitbit styles that you can choose between something slim (like the inspire) or something that looks more like a traditional watch.

If this is for someone who does a lot of outdoor activities like cycling or running and needs the GPS, Garmin is good. But then again I think that requires a phone.

Good luck!

I've had a smartwatch for years.  I'm actually on my second!

What I've figured out:

If they use Apple, the Apple watch is by far the best you can do for them.

If they use Android, I would go with the latest Samsung watch.  It resolves several issues that Wear OS has struggled with.  If you can't get that one, go Samsung or Fossil.  Most of the Wear OS watches are Fossil based, so no need to pay more for the same thing.

No phone would put them squarely into a FitBit.  It's great for stuff like what you mentioned.

If they aren't needing to use it with a phone I would go with Fitbit. I have had a couple Fitbit watches and a Fossil smartwatch. I prefer the Fitbit one since it was easier to use. The Fossil one had sync issues with my phone and I was always having to fix the programming in it through the app. It was a headache.
