mrn8 Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 These prices are awesome. I'm starting to get tempted to sell my home PC and just have a laptop.
RossMAN Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 This is smokin' hot and it is isn't barebones either. Dual Core, 1GB and DVD Burner are nice. I would probably upgrade to SXGA+, OS CD's and maybe Bluetooth.

RossMAN Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Oh and extended battery. At this price it's very tempting especially with no rebate hassles and free ground shipping.
DaveSimmons Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Spend an extra $99 on the Radeon X1400 video card upgrade and this will be great for light 3D gaming too.
Karmarose Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Got mine yesterday and I love it. I would recommend the extended battery life though. I was dissapointed that my drives from my old Dell laptop don't fit it, but I can always use the external set up for them. Edit: I got the Nvidia card as my upgrade and it rocks. I don't remember paying that much to upgrade it to that though?
Karmarose Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Karmarose, Which video card did you get? Oops, I edited in the wrong brand. I got this one 256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory™
DaveSimmons Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Oops, I edited in the wrong brand. I got this one 256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory™ That's what I'm still recommending, the nvidia card they offer for more money is actually slower.
Scott Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I'm som tempted by this for my wife.. I'm wondering if I should update the display as well... How nice is the standard one?
Karmarose Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I'm som tempted by this for my wife.. I'm wondering if I should update the display as well... How nice is the standard one? It's pretty nice. I got the standard, but one of the laptops I have has the SXGA and that's really nice too. My last Dell had a cruddy display that I couldn't use outside, but this one looks good. I see everyone saying upgrade to the SXGA and I can't say it was a necessity for me. Maybe someone else can put it better into words why u should upgrade?
sde219 Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 What was the offer on this laptop on Sunday? Wasn't it 100GB HD then?
RossMAN Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 What was the offer on this laptop on Sunday? Wasn't it 100GB HD then? You're probably thinking of the similiar Inspiron E1405.
sde219 Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Ross, I got the 1405 on Sat for $699. It was the 1505 on Sun, the 1705 on Mon, and the B130 on Tues. It's possible the 1505 only had a 80gig on Sun but I didn't remember it. It might be nice if GD would track the Days of Dells stuff like sometimes happens with WootOffs. I'm trying to decide if I should cancel the 1405 and buy this 1505. I would lose 20 gig, and pay $160 to get a slightly larger screen, better screen WXGA+ TFT up to SXGA+, and get a better video card. The bluetooth upgrade is $49 for this but was only $20 on the 1405 so that accounts for some of the jump. Is the video card upgrade really necessary ($99 to the 256MB Radeon)? What about the $71 screen upgrade? Does Ultrasharp make a big difference? Thanks for all that you guys do to help the rest of us out. Steve
Scott Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Once again, I'm feeling regret... The wife drug her feet last night and couldn't make up her mind. I should have just gotten it for her. Maybe, if I'm lucky, this one will come around one more time...
