len_mullen Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Surprised Salem, NH is not on that list. Hopeless for decades, empty for years. Last time I was in there (on the way to another store), I passed by a table of nice shirts with a sign which read 'marked down' -- no prices, no percentages. When I finally found a cashier, the price was outstanding. I got a bunch and went to the checkout. There were two behind me in line (the cashier may have been the only other person in the building). As she processed my order, one of the two asked me where I found the shirts then both left to plunder the table. That table was right at the entrance to the mall. Imagine if one of the employees had thought to post a sign with price information? If Amazon did not post prices, I would not shop there either!
Kanyon71 Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 I'm really surprised there are many left. NOWHERE that I frequent has a Kmart or a Sears left. It's a shame, used to shop at both of them a lot.
stewarta4 Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 I wish they'd just get it over with and close 'em all...it's inevitable. Why keep holding on... 1
MusicMama Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Mine isn't on this list, but the billboards are all over touting its closing soon. I'm not completely sorry because the store has been a dump for years. But I am sorry that the local mall has lost its second of 3 anchor stores and is slowly becoming a mini-clinic instead of a shopping mall.
len_mullen Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 I think it's a great idea to repurpose these buildings as service areas specializing in things difficult to do over the internet.
Kanyon71 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 I tried to buy an old mall in Tampa many years ago. Wanted to turn it into an office park and keep a nice food courtyard in it. One of the people we were getting to help back it fell through though. I think the concept would have worked well.
len_mullen Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 I live in a bedroom community just a little distant from everything. A company proposed a project that included an assisted living complex with a pharmacy, a clinic, and 'other retailers'. At the time, my wife was traveling an hour for dialysis. I hoped that would be available locally. Never happened, but I think this is the future of local retail outlets and I am looking forward to it. Maybe a little related, EVERY grocer in my area is offering delivery. When I finally give up my license, I will not go hungry! 1

We had things like starbucks, a local pizza place, an italian restaurant, seafood restaurant, pharmacy and a bunch of other things. Was pretty cool, I would just run down my stairs, grab what I needed/wanted and then head back up the stairs. 1
Tara3117 Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Surprised Salem, NH is not on that list. Hopeless for decades, empty for years. Imagine if one of the employees had thought to post a sign with price information? If Amazon did not post prices, I would not shop there either! I got my kid's backpack from that KMart. It was pictured on their website as having 2 in stock. Went up that night but couldn't find them. Ordered it for in-store pick up. It was actually kind of nice that the store was so calm. I didn't mind my kids running around because there were no customers to trip over. When the bag came in a few days later, we went back. The email said to go to any register. There was no one at customer service, so we went to the line. The guy at the register said he couldn't help me and I told him there was no one at customer service. It took a bit for someone to get over there and then they had to hike off to find the order. In the end, we got the backpack he wanted that I couldn't find anywhere else for a great price, but man, it was painful.
mcwalker Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 (edited) USA Today reported on August 31, that about 100 additional Sears and Kmarts will close by the end of the year. https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2019/08/31/kmart-sears-store-closings-more-locations-shutter-end-2019/2168435001/ They say that as of August 7, there were about 380 Sears and Kmart stores left. However, they are in the process of buying the shares of Sears Hometown stores that they don't already own, and merging those 639 stores back with others to create new smaller Sears stores that don't sell clothes. angelbabymommy Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 Wow! I didn’t even see this updated list...BOTH Kmarts we had left in Delaware are closing. I wonder when the sales will start????
mgreen Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 The one in redlands, ca is close to me. I'll have to check out closing sale. With so many stores closing pretty soon we will have 2 choices wm or wm, lol. 1
jesusluvu Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 I am offically out of all Kmarts. The final one is already started there clearance
tracy0504 Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 My son has been working seasonal @ our last Kmart for about a week now and they told him during orientation they were closing in 6 weeks, Nov 27 to be exact...they are getting a shipment tomorrow, I told him if they get Christmas socks in let me know...
atipton129 Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 We have no Kmarts left, but in past years on BF I have NEVER found any hot items that I wanted.
colemandawn4905 Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 I use to love the points program at Kmart and Sears. Last few Christmas’s I got so much stuff for free. I’d buy stuff on sale using their coupons n get money to use to get free stuff. I seriously miss it. All of ours (both stores) are gone. I do shop online a little still but it’s not the same.
connieh Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Our mall has lost many anchor stores, very sad. No longer have Sears, JCPenney or the Boston Store. Kmart has been long gone. Still have a Kohl's and a Target. Newer stores coming in have been Ross's, Home Goods, the usual small strip store mall stuff.
