Ankit
Ok, now I have to convince my dad he won't lose much if anything in the worst case scenario Let's say that we buy this system and it arrives. We put up the monitors on ebay (2001FP) and we don't get an amount we want for them, in order us to come close to breaking even. We can then return these to Dell, right? I guess all we'd eat would be the listing fees from ebay and shipping back to Dell, right?
RossMAN
AgaBoogaBoo, Unfortunately this is quite different from the previous deal you're referring to and won't work. 1) This is $750 off $1500 laptop, the other was 40% off $2499+ on dimension plus 2 LCD's.2) Even if you were to buy this laptop I don't see an option for a Dell LCD. Scott
I missed it already... Coupon expired... Man... I want a 700m! edit: NM... I keep forgetting that I'm A few hours ahead of Dell Time. :) Question for those who have gotten the 700m.. How is the battery life with the 4 cell battery? Should I just upgrade to the 8 cell from the start?
Brad
I get a little over 2 hours with the standard battery with wireless on. The 8 cell does stick out a little more on the back. It depends on how you plan on using it (more at home vs. traveling, etc...)

Big Smooth
I thought long and hard about ordering - if I had any need for a laptop I would jump on it. But I couldn't come up with any honest reason that I really needed one. There are several reasons why I'd want one, but I couldn't justify spending $750+. Sigh. Big Smooth
True. But maybe I'm having to learn to show some restraint in my old age.

steveh
Anybody got any idea what the viability of selling one of these machines on ebay is? Or what kind of pricepoint is realistic? Also, can you use this coupon for more than one purchase (could I buy 2? or 3? or 4?)?
RossMAN
Anybody got any idea what the viability of selling one of these machines on ebay is? Or what kind of pricepoint is realistic? Also, can you use this coupon for more than one purchase (could I buy 2? or 3? or 4?)?The eBay market is already flooded you'll have better luck selling LOCALLY which also has these advantages: 1) No eBay or Paypal cc fees, this is a ~$30 savings.2) No shipping hassles or expense since they are local.3) No trolls or being ripped off since you can be there in person collecting guaranteed funds (cash or cashier's check). It is still possible to make a few bucks on this through eBay, buy the Dell Inspiron 1150 and a Dell Multifunction LCD TV. Sell both on eBay you could profit around $200-$300. It's also a huge risk because you're holding onto ~$900 of inventory and the market is already flooded (remember high supply low demand spells disaster). So you might in the end have to sell BELOW COST or just break even. UPDATE: Coupon does not work with the Dell LCD TV's. So unless you plan on selling LOCALLY I would not recommend buying these just for resale value on eBay.
Big Smooth
Old age? How old are you now?I'm just kidding, I'm only 26. Although I did just get married so maybe I'm supposed to be more "mature" now?
steveh
I see what you're saying... I'm cruising ebay right now and the closest thing to the configuration I was building is this. The only change I've made to it is changing the wireless NIC to one that is internal and supports 802.11b/g. This configuration is $767, after the discount. But then I have to pax *tax* (I'm in Florida). With tax and shipping, this one is $862.02. The reference one on ebay closed at $960. So that puts potential profit a little under $100, before ebay/paypal fees... yuck... Incidentally, your idea about the 1150 plus multifunction LCD TV won't work. Apparently the $1499 has to be on a laptop.

According to your car insurance company you are. You should see if you get a discount cause you're married now...

ups^
I broke down and bought one. I don't need one by any means, but the fact that I could sell this later on if I decide I don't want it is what made me take it hook, line, and sinker. I was trying to save up for a jeep, but I guess with winter coming up this is a good excuse to delay the purchase. :) Thanks, guys.
Brad
Another deadline - if you want a 600m or 5160 order in the next hour: We want to communicate to you as soon as possible so that you are able to pass along this message to your customers before end of business day. Due to the continued overwhelming response to our offer, we have triggered supply constraints on additional Inspiron models. We are currently changing our site to redirect demand to other models. However, we are concerned that our current sales rate will lead to extended lead times, and a negative customer experience for our shared customers. To address these growing concerns, as of 6:00pm cst this afternoon, this promotion will no longer be available for Inspiron 5160 and Inspiron 600m. The offer remains available on Dell Inspiron 1150 and Inspiron XPS systems. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, and we thank you for the success of this offer.
