rockpzazz Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Does anyone go to any Thanksgiving or Christmas parades? My town of about 800 has a Christmas parade about two weeks before Christmas, but it lasts like 10 minutes. I was just curious if and where you go for parades, and what is you favorite places to go. I've always wanted to go to New York to the Macy's Day Parade, but doubt I ever will. I was very close to attending the St. Louis Holiday Parade a few years ago while my sister was in the hospital for chemo, but luckily she was released the night before so we didn't have to deal with traffic.
Kanyon71 Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 I've been to one in Downtown Detroit that they do every year for Thanksgiving. Was a while ago though. We want to take our daughter to one at some point. 1
Tara3117 Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 My city has a decent Santa parade the Sunday before Thanksgiving. There's usually several local marching bands and some floats from local businesses and churches. My kids love it. I want to go to NYC for the Macy's parade too. One of my coworkers has been a few times because his aunt lives in Brooklyn. I think the only way to do it is to watch it close to the start. You couldn't pay me enough to watch it on 5th Avenue. Nope. 1
Bopeep Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 The Oklahoma City Stockyards does a Cowboy Christmas Parade every year. Every year, I think "I just might get up and go to that this year", and every year I don't. Maybe I'll go this year. The grands would love it. 2

rockpzazz Posted November 17, 2017 Author Posted November 17, 2017 Okc downtown has a parade and part is on the river. Nice. That reminds me of the river parade in San Antonio I saw on TV a few years ago. It was awesome, and made me want to go see it. The next year or two they cancelled it, but I'm not sure if they ever brought it back or not.
jesusluvu Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 We go tot he Christmas parade every year and then go to dennys. It is a tradition but the last few years there service has been horrible so we may switch to ihop. It last about 1 to 1.5 hours. Lot of school bands, dance teams, etc but it is so wonderful. I work downtown so its nice to view with space and warmth at times. 1
