magickallight Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 So... we are down to the wire... Are you finished shopping, wrapping, baking? I have all the shopping, wrapping and stocking stuffing done, but won't finish baking until the end of the week - right before everyone arrive for the big Christmas Eve celebration. I am pretty much on schedule, How are you doing?
speeddiva Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 (edited) I'm almost finished wrapping which is impressive for me since I'm that person who is usually wrapping at 2am Christmas morning. I still need to buy a few gift cards & candy for stockings. I did some baking but the sons are home from college and it's pretty much all gone. I'll do more on Friday. Kanyon71 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Shopping - Nope (need to take my daughter to get a few things for mommy)Wrapping - Nope, we are going out of town for Christmas so we aren't going to wrap until we get there. Don't want the wrapping to get trashed while being shuffled around to get there. Baking - Yes we finished that. We had our big Holiday bash this past Saturday and we finished baking on Saturday. Was pulling the last of the cookies as I was also finishing off my pulled pork before all the guests started arriving lol. 1
bluebear Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Shopping - I actually did pretty good this year. I have a couple things that will arrive tomorrow, and one thing I need to pick up while I'm grocery shopping today. But that's pretty impressive for me. I'm the kind of person that will shop right up til Christmas, even if I'm "done". I don't think I will this year, and I think stockings are even under control for once! Doesn't help that we have a college tuition payment due, yikes.Wrapping - not as good progress there. I did good thanksgiving weekend and wrapped most everything I had since I had my tree up. I've only wrapped maybe 4 things since. Gotta work on that today. I always have to wait til later on some things, while I'm deciding what will be wrapped and what will be left from santa, ans making sure the boys have even presents to open. Sometimes things have to be combined to make that happen. Know what still isn't wrapped though? The first 6 presents I bought on Prime Day in July! For my nieces, and wasn't sure if to combine anything until I bough nephews (which is what I'm picking up today). I really do make things hard on myself.Baking - oh heck no. I picked up most ingredients earlier in the week when I baked cookies for work party. But of course not everything, and things have been added to the list. So shopping trip today, then I'll get busy. I'm off work this week so that will help. I am going to have to make a double batch of buckeyes though (and my recipe I think is already like 3 batches!), so I'm not really looking forward to that! 3
Coastiwife Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 (edited) I have one gift and one gift card left to buy. I have wrapped everything as it has been bought. Just finished stocking stuffers today. As with the above poster we have college tuition payments and fraternity dues to pay so I didn't shop as much as usual. I have not even started on my baking and candy making. Will hit the grocery store tomorrow and get in the kitchen Thursday. Cutting it close this year. I'm still waiting for it to actually feel like Christmas. Edited December 19, 2016 by Coastiwife 2
Elmck Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Shopping: I still need two gift cards but I plan to get those tonight Wrapping: Almost, will finish that tomorrow after I get off work Baking: I have not even started but I don't have to work the rest of the week starting Thursday so mom and I plan to tackle baking Thursday and or Friday. Stockings are done though!! 1
LainieB Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 I have everything bought, baked, and wrapped other than adding a few bows and ribbons to packages. 1
wittenlover Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Nope, nope, and nope. lol I will finish shopping sometime later this week. I have my list, no truly hard to get items, so it won't be an issue. I'll wrap about half the stuff tonight because I'm shipping it out tomorrow. Rest is local, some not bought yet, so I can wrap the rest Thursday or Friday once I'm done shopping. Baking for Christmas will be finished tonight, but baking as a whole won't be done until next week. Why? I bake/make homemade treats for the NYE party I host for our church. 1
magickallight Posted December 20, 2016 Author Posted December 20, 2016 No, No and No -- PLEASE HELP Sending you hugs and some Elves to help you out!
Bopeep Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Baking/candy is done. I finished my wrapping yesterday. I have to go grocery shopping today, so we'll see if I can keep from buying any more gifts while I'm out. 3
budgetsRsexy Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I thought I was done with all of the above but it turns out I need to pick up one more gift card and one more stocking stuffer as well as make one more batch of cookies. My wrapping is done which is unusually early for me but I have this feeling that my father in law is going to rope me into doing his [emoji30] 1
HanShotFirst Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 All done except for some baking. Mom and I have made a chocolate pie and red velvet cake today. Still have to make fudge but that will be done Friday or Saturday afternoon. Gifts are all wrapped/sacked and ready to go. 1
nisha98 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Shopping - Yes I picked up last things yesterday. Wrapping - No but I wrap everything late Christmas Eve after kids are in bed as Santa brings almost everything. It makes for a long night but I love it. Baking - My mom is coming tomorrow and she cooks virtually everything. The kids and I will bake cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve. 1
wittenlover Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Progress update: After a marathon baking session last night that pitted me and my oven against the task of making more than 400 cookies until 3:30 am, my Christmas baking is done. Just one more batch of fudge to make for my mechanics to be delivered Friday. NYE baking will be so easy compared to what I've cranked out in the last 48 hours. lol 3
bluebear Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Today I wrapped. For 5 hours! Ack! But now all the shopping and all the wrapping is done. One batch (10 dozen) of tiny cookies was made last night, but probably only half are still around. And that's why I don't bake early! Tomorrow is craft day, and I'll start on buckeyes.Getting closer! 2
speeddiva Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 (edited) Update: Presents all purchased. All but 3 wrapped with 73 hours, 26 minutes to spare. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using GottaDeal mobile app Edited December 22, 2016 by speeddiva 4
magickallight Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 I caved and bought hubby a few more small items online - they are all supposed to be here by tomorrow... now to dig the wrapping paper back out... UGGGGG! 1
Bopeep Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Just when I thought I was done. I ordered a couple more things online. I'm all out of paper and tape too, so I'll have to restock. Fortunately, Christmas with my big family isn't until the 31st, so I can hit the after Christmas sales for that stuff. 2
budgetsRsexy Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Done, done and done! Now I can put my feet up and read a book or watch football until guests show up at 5. Good luck everyone!!! 1
bluebear Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Well, against my better judgement, I left the house, which means I found things to buy. And then I had to buy something for the other kid too. But I needed a couple things from the grocery store, and while I was passing by.. Cookies are done, still need to dip the peanut butter balls in chocolate and make brownies.I had really hoped to have all that done already, but I got distracted and spent 2 days in the craft room. 2
