Line reports and camper sightings

Have any of our fine group witnessed any one camping or read a news article about it?  I know of two, but one person here in Florida is doing for charity, so please list all of those sightings and pictures! be sure to let us know if they know of Gottadeal and any particulars like time of arrival, what they are after, etc.

If you can get a picture that would be great!

We've only hit a handful of days below freezing in Wisconsin thus far. This seems like it would be the year where camping could be possible up here!!   ...not sure about 10 days worth. lol

This I don't understand. I would understand if it was this time next week but to stand in line a week and a half early - uff da! I don't crave the five minutes of fame enough to camp out that early.

It's not just about fame. Some people do it for tradition. If you go with friends and family, it's often quality time spent together and really no different than taking a week-long camping trip in the woods.....with wifi....and restrooms....and starbucks within walking distance....and a really great deal on a TV, or 4, after it's all said and done.

The media picks and chooses the stars, so we really do not know what will trigger a media share. Remember when two ladies in California made the news before the ad was even released?

You should hire a DJ, get a parking lot party going on, get your sponsors (i.e. Brad) some extra attention. That will draw in the media and get you some viral.

So far nothing around here but I'll have my husband start watching Best Buy (the only store here that would have campers this early) starting tomorrow on his way to work. I'll post if we have anyone around here before Wednesday camping.

Nothing here yet. I have never camped out but many, many years ago I was in line the night before to get a cheap desktop at BestBuy. Golly makes that feel like ancient times, desktop. lol

In New York it's in the 40s and will be straight through till after Black Friday. I know when the first people show up, since usually it is me, and I know the people that show up next are on a schedule and can't arrive earlier... so ok, I know if I get there 30 minutes before the time I know they can get there at earliest, I'm good, lol. After that it is usually pretty quiet right up until Thursday morning at about 7am. Since the weather here is a factor, many don't arrive until about 10am - 12 noon... and then the rush begins. Having been doing Black Friday now for about 22 years, and been here since 2004 I have learned the it works here but every area is different. Luckily this area most don't like to fight the cold and often don't arrive until Thursday morning. Just checked all my gear, tested my propane heater, and ready to just load the car. I have already gotten there in the past and waited over 48 hours for the second group to arrive so no point leaving until I feel others may try to beat me, lol

In Wisconsin, I know how your weather situation is...  So, are you always after a limited time doorbuster that you feel you always need to be first? Would it not be sufficient to wait until mid-Thu morning (or even later) and get there as #5 or #10? Or is it more of tradition that you want to be first and enjoy the thrill of getting in the door first?

Remember at Best Buy some families will show up with 1 person to "hold" their place in line for days and then the day of a few hours before they will show up and that #5 in line will all of a sudden be #20 or more

Okay, for those of you in Jacksonville Florida I have a proposal for you. The first person to come by and train horn me tonight gets a free beanie, courtesy of gottadeal.com.

What do you mean 'train horn'? Has anyone taken you up on this yet?

We had dinner at 1:30. Everyone was gone and the kitchen was cleaned up by 4:30 so we took a ride. I wanted to see how busy it was. Not very busy at all. Younkers had a long line and so did Best Buy. Both Walmart parking lots were only 1/2 full. Both targets had a very small line. TRU looked like a normal shopping day. The mall was fairly busy with steady traffic streaming in. I didn't need anything from a store so no shopping for me. All mine was done online this year.

We had a chair, wrapped around MY extension cord on Wednesday night. It was an abandoned chair that was broken. I quickly freed it from my property and threw it out of the line. The owner never came back. This type of chair diplomacy does not work with this mayor! All of the other people started showing up after 9 PM and the other early birds came up in the morning. Typical for those who do not camp. My problem was witnessing people inside the store that were getting irate over items that were not even being offered until the second sale, which were clearly marked in the printed ad. Reading IS fundamental folks!

To answer the question, I was finally train horned by a hummer on Thursday morning. We filmed it on Facebook live.
