Melissa Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Anyone else hate that the stores themselves are now releasing their Black Friday ads early on their websites and it's no longer a "secret leak"?
bigjimslade Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 It has been like this for several years now. I do feel that some fun has been taken away.
riven3d Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 ya it was like a big deal, it felt great to say hey ive had the ad for weeks where some had to wait to see the ad when it showed up in the paper
rockpzazz Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I see what you're saying but it doesn't bother me too much. First reason is because they are in much higher quality, and second because I don't have to see watermarks on 99% of the ad. While it was fun seeing them before a lot of others, I think the bigger disappointment of relishing the old days is most everything is available online now so you don't have to fight the crowd as much. I'm not saying I hate having the option of doing it, I just mean that took more away from the actual shopping then having the stores releasing their ads before they could leak. 1
Brad Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 It was bound to happen. Back a decade ago we'd post the Walmart ad and have front page stories on CNN, MSN, etc... that mentioned GD. Walmart wanted that coverage for themselves and to get you to go to their site, download their app, follow them on Facebook. Other stores followed. But it's nice to get clean digital copies vs pics someone took with their 8-year old camera. As more people do their BF week shopping online the actual paper ads won't matter as much.
bribri25 Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 It's definitely still fun! Just has a few quirks. Now the best way to view them is in the app/site, rather then download from here because the names often get cut off from screenshots, etc. It's still all good, though.
Kanyon71 Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Sometimes I miss the old pictures, EVERY once in a while we still see those. 1
redraccoon Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 I miss getting deals that not everyone and their cousin knows about.... 3
jaymacfla Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 The mystery, suspense and intrigue is missing, but then again, so are many of the great stores as well. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using GottaDeal mobile app 1
tracy0504 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 I still enjoy it either way... Sent from my SM-G930V using GottaDeal mobile app
jewleyp Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 My DH told me the other day that they had a managers blitz meeting this week. I knew that Walmart would be releasing the ad the day before since they only know a couple days ahead they dont get the ad until this meeting. Sure enough I got up the next morning and Walmart had released it on their app!
tinkrbel Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 I've been so busy this year, didn't really have time to look either way. Its nice to get better copies to see movies better
flyjar Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 But it's nice to get clean digital copies vs pics someone took with their 8-year old camera. As more people do their BF week shopping online the actual paper ads won't matter as much.Amen to that
mcwalker Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 It doesn't bother me, and as Brad mentioned, it means that we get clean well scanned ads without somebody's watermark on them. Now, if they would just issue pre-typed text lists along with the ads!
mgreen Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 I like the cleaner, sharper ads, but I miss the days when walmart threatened us with legal action, LOL
msyves Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 I still prefer coming here to see the ads. I get to read what others think. Plus it gives me insight on items I wasn't considering but the forums got me intrigued.
