walmart to stop price matching !

Not sure if anyone knows this but I was talking to a Walmart employee the other day and she informed me that beginning OCT 24, Walmart will no longer be price matching, not even Black Friday. I wonder how that will affect their holiday sales?

I haven't heard anything about it. Something like that I would expect to make the news. If that's the case I can see them losing a lot of business to places that do price match or Amazon.

They stopped PMing here in NC in June I think it was.  This will eventually be a corporate-wide thing from what I have been told by people that work there.

Walmart will lose a ton of business if they do this at all their stores, I PM everything at my local store, if they stop doing it, they just wont get my $$ for that item I will go buy it at the store its on sale at its that simple, they will regret the decision if they do it, the thing of it is those of you that have store that already have this policy should do this, REFUSE to give them the $$ for items you can get cheaper elsewhere and make sure they know you are doing so because of that reason.

take the item to the register ask for a PM when they refuse it then you refuse to buy it from them. make sure you play it out go up the line, all the way up to store manager. eventually when the managers start saying hey people are going elsewhere they might rethink the decision

I know the ones around us are still doing it. We had then price match their own site for a ladder we bought.

if you read the article in the link i posted it says they will still Pm their own website in the stores that stop

You caught me I didn't read it

We have used price matching at all stores that we go to that have it. It makes life easier. Some of the things we buy the price difference is significant and we will leave the store in order to go purchase it at another store.

Seems to me Walmart is already having sales issues and doing this will drive even more sales away. Ol Sam must be super happy.

My store stopped August 1. We don't have big competing stores nearby (atleast 25 minutes to Target, farther for mall type or office supply stores). It would make sense for them to do a slow rollout starting with non competitive stores.

I freely admit that when I want something that I think Best Buy carries, I drive right past the Walmart and down another couple blocks to the Best Buy because they are so much easier to deal with when it comes to price matching.

My local Walmart has also stopped price matching. But not completely - they will still price match with a single website: walmart.com.

The procedure is that the shopper has to go to a regular register and tell the cashier of the price match. Then the cashier calls the CSM over who then has to call up the product on his or her own device (typically a smartphone) and then approve the price change.

I have already done this a few times, on different days, so I know the 'system' works.

I live in an area with lots of competition and all of my walmarts are still pricing matching. In my town alone there are 3 Walmart Supercenters, 2 Walmart Neighborhood Markets, 3 Walgreens, a Target, a CVS Pharmacy, a Sam's Club, and 5 or 6 six locally owned grocery stores.

I live in an area with lots of competition too, Target is right across the street but my local Walmart has stopped price matching (at least the way they use to) I'm not sure about online things but that seems like a lot of trouble and Walmart here is slow enough.

Same here...they obviously don't care about the competition and must not feel any threat...

Aw I had not heard about this until just  now. My stores in Southern WV are still doing it but it sounds like they will all quit eventually. I wonder if it has to do with their Savings Catcher ap that they now offer. I've been using it for a few years now it does the price matching work for you.

Those of you who live in areas that don't PM anymore, are you still able to use the Savings catcher ap to PM?

Yes!  I am still able to use the Savings Catcher and I do earn quite a bit back.  Then again, I never really price matched much with other stores.

I don't PM much at Walmart anyways, but I wonder if they might bring it back briefly for the Christmas season? They would hate to lose sales at this time of year. The BF PM they did was hard to do anyways on tablets and such as the model numbers had to be identical (tried it with an iPad and though they were BOTH mini 2s (size and color), the numbers were different).

I dont think it even matters anymorr. I only shop at Walmart because I have a store card. I use it mainly for gas. It has gotten to where a lot of my Chrismas gifts come from stores other than Walmart. I was hoping to see more toys in their BF ad but thats not the case again. Price matching is more of a pain the butt than anything else because their staff is so uneducated about it. It seems to vary from store to store too.
