One of the gas station chains here gives a free basic car wash with an 8 gallon gas fill on Tuesdays(or money off of the "premium" car wash packages)

And if you get your oil changed at certain places, you get a free car wash too.

7.99? that's robbery!!!

it's los angeles. HOA doesn't allow you to wash your car in the driveway, plus it's an apt building anyways, so it's not like i could do it.

the regular car was is 12 or 13 bucks. but they wash the exterior, vacuum the interior, wipe everything down, etc. i usually tip them 2-3 bucks.

and i make sure i hide all the change in my car.

It's $2 with a 8 gallon or more purchase at the gas station near my house. I'm not real fond of their carwash, though, so I buy them in 10-packs at another station and get a $2 discount. It ends up being their $7 wash for $5.

There are car washes that are $5 around me. But that's just basic wash and maybe sealer wax. I think MSNBC did an undercover investigation on how car washers are paid in the LA area. Many of them ended up getting something like $1/hr or something. A lot of the are illegal immigrants so they don't complain or report it to the authorities. Usually I do the $7.99 Tuesday-Thursday deal at a car wash near work and tip high.

We used to have deals like that all the time. I havent seen any since they started limiting water usage a few years ago. Hopefully this year there wont be restrictions, as it seems like we've had tons of rain this year. And I really want to be able to use the pool I got the kids last year!
