Anyone have any idea regarding which one would be best for the price....niece wants one of those fitness tracker bands under $50.

Macy's has Sharper Image one for $39.99 reg. $120.00

JC Penny's has Nuband for $39.99 reg. $80

Bon-Ton has Everlast for $49.99 reg. $80 (this one has a watch/clock on it)

I have NO idea about these, so any help would be appreciated!!!!

I have the Fitbit Flex and its on sale BF at a lot of place, Sam's, Target, Walmart, etc for about $75 which is $25 off the normal $99 price. Fitbit just came out with three new ones though, the Charge, the Charge HD and the Surge. The Charge is $129 and the Surge, if out yet will be $250.

The main difference from the Flex to Charge is that you can see the time, steps and such on the face of the band. I wear my Flex on my ankle because it gets a more accurate step count since I don't swing my arms a lot when I am working out or walking/running. With that said I wouldn't upgrade to the Charge. The Surge I might since it has GPS in it and some other features.

I will say that fitbit customer service is awesome too! When my Flex died they had me try a couple things and when that didn't work they sent me out a new unit at no charge which was nice since mine was a gift and I didn't have a receipt.

I don't think there are good ones out there for under $50.

All three items have very limited reviews and I don't think many people have either heard of or purchased these items - they may be only released for the holidays to get people to buy them instead of a fitbit, which for the price, actually works.

Honestly, I think you get what you pay for. Garmin, Jawbone and FitBit are the big brands. You obviously pay more but you get a better quality project. Out of the three you named, I think the Everlast one is the best because she'll probably want the app on her smartphone and it has a usable watch face. The Macy's doesn't have a face and it didn't look like the JCPenney one has an app.

I have a fitbit flex (out of your stated price range) and I bought a metawatch strata (not a fitness device) at bestbuy a few months ago - both devices taught an important lesson about doing research into how it charges.

The flex has this itty bitty adapter which you plug into a USB port... no issue - except the design leads to shorting out the charger, or having to do acrobatics with the 2 inch charger.  It is  a wicked PITA in an otherwise great product,

MetAwatch took it a step further.  there are 4 pins recessed on the backside of the watch.  To charge it you CLAMP the charger over the watch and plug it into a USB port...  The charger design SUX ROCKS.  If the pins don't align perfectly the watch locks.  After much fiddling I can unlock it (or I let the battery drain) but it seems to suck down battery while it is locked... I paid $35 for it... so it was worth the price... but:

Make sure the charging methodology is sound.  Hopefully it is somewhat standardized - like a mini USB...  or a cord that plugs into the device.... read the reviews.

If your in for a penny go in for the pound.  the main devices Tara mentioned offer some great features and interfaces you will wish you have if you go for a knock off.

I have the Garmin Vivofit. It is awesome and you can use a heart rate strap with it. It also sets a daily goal for you and you can join online challenges. The Vivofit has regular button batteries that last a year without charging. The band can hold data for upto 3 weeks without syncing and it also will track your sleep.

You can get it for $80.

And I also believe you get what you pay for. Pay a little more for an established brand that is well designed with a company that will stand behind their product. That is why I am a Garmin user.

I have a question about these. Does the Fitbit come in large sizes? My dh is a big guy, and the ones I normally see wouldn't fit his wrist.

The Flex only comes in Small and Large wristbands, but the Charge comes in X-Large too. There are specs on the Fitbit website to see which one (if any) would fit his wrist.

How can I find a listing of all of the fitness tracker bands that will be on sale for BF? Also, of the ones that come with chest bands, can they all be used fine without the chest band, too? (I have a friend who wants one but hesitates because he wouldn't be able to get the chest band on and off by himself due to physical challenges.) Thanks!
