Top on my kids list are the new Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire for 3DS.  Unfortunately, they are already talking about pooling their $$$ together to buy them....but my hope is for them to be patient! (yeah right) :runaway:

Can anyone weigh in on an Xbox 360 console system versus an XBOX One?  My DS10 is adamit that he wanst the XBOX 360 and not the newer XBOX ONE.  He said it's because the games he likes are only available on 360.  I think it's because he buddy has a 360.  I am inclined to buy the newer system thinking it will be better for long term game availability.  I realize that if I go with the 360 it will be cheaper and I could potentially get games cheaper.  Does anyone have any advice one way or another?  Either way, I am assuming there will be game bundles available on Black Friday.  Any advice or suggestions that anyone has is much appreciated.  This is one area I have no clue on!  I know he wants the new Madden football game and that is available on both consoles.

Thanks in advance!

We have a xbox 360 and my kids are looking at either the One or a PS4.  So I am hoping somebody can chip in on which one is better.  I do know that we rented the Destiny game and it wouldn't load on our 360 as it needs too much memory.

My general advise on game systems is buy what your kids friends have because the most they will get out of it is playing against friends/others online.  So if his buddy has a 360, get the 360.  Most of the games on the One will be available on the 360 as well for some time.  I would even check craigslist to see if some people who have an xbox one might be looking to unload a 360 for a good price.

My son is currently playing Destiny on his Xbox 360.  Maybe your hdd is full?

I am looking to get an Xbox one with the infinity game. Do you think there will be any package deals for those 2 items?

Hope so i'm looking for the same thing

I currently own an Xbox One and have been on top of most of the deals since its release. All I have to say is, wow! If the sales so far are any indication of what we will see for BF, there will be some great deals:

- There is now a "console bundle" for pretty much every game that comes out. My advice with this is: Do your research. Unless there is a great deal on a standalone (green packaging) Xbox One, you can most likely get the same thing bundled with a game for no extra cost.

- A few weeks back there was a promotion pretty much anywhere you could buy an Xbox One that you got a free game with purchase (Any Xbox One game). So I would not be surprised to see deals that include free games on BF.

- Rumor is that Microsoft is getting rid of the Xbox One/Kinect bundle and will just sell the Kinect separately. So there may be some deals on leftover stock of the bundle with Kinect. (I recommend getting the Kinect, especially if you have kids)

- Overall, right now the battle between Xbox and Playstation is really at an all time high. I wouldn't be shocked to see some of the best deals we have ever seen on consoles. Most of these deals will most likely be in the form of bundles, but it should be exciting.

I'm hoping Hyrule Warriors(Wii U) might go down a notch to 39.99 on BF.  Also looking for some 100% trade in bonuses at Best Buy or Gamestop.

That is exactly the problem.  You either need to delete stuff off your HDD to get the required space or get a bigger HDD.  My son was texting me after we surprised him by buying Destiny for his 360 and he was immediately saying he needed me to go buy him a new hdd.  Whoa - there.  I told him to start deleting stuff off his current hdd - he was able to clear enough room to get the game to work.

Anyone think the PS4 will come down in price or do you think it will just be a bundled deal?  Not sure if I should buy one now to get it out of the way or wait closer to BF.

I think there might be 2 game consoles being picked up for this year. Haven't decided on Wii or Wii U, ps3 or xbox 360. Or the newest systems. I think my DH and I need to get to Best Buy to play around and check out the games available for each to narrow it down.

At this point in the game I wouldn't consider the wii unless you have younger kids and are buying it used with a nice amount of games. Most of the new games aren't even being made for it so you could find your kids wanting games that can't be played on their system.

Right now qvc and shopnbc are running bundle deals at 99.00 a month for 5-6 months which is good since you make the 1st payment Bd it ships.

I bought my daughter the Xbox360 w/kinect bundle in 2009 it was 100. A month for 6 months it included xbox360, kinect, 3gAmes, controller, 2 months gold, 2yr wArrenty.

This year I will get the xboxone bundle with the black oops deal of destiny deal.

The conversation about Destiny brings up a good point.  I always would say buy the version of the console you want with the biggest HD available.  Trust me if you buy several games from Xbox Live or PS store and put it on the harddrive it will full up quickly.  It's worth it to not have to swap it out later.

Ok, thanks.

Looks like the 3 left are similar in price. I'd like the kinect if we went with the 360. The kids I'm getting them for are 8 and soon to be 12. I think the Wii U would be good for my 8 year old. They both like racing games.

If I we're trying to choose between your options, I would also keep in mind that Playstation and Xbox will eventually start phasing out the new release games for Xbox 360 and PS3 to push consumers towards upgrading to the new systems. That may be a while down the road, but who knows. The wii u would probably be perfect for 8 year old. For the 12 year old, I would look at game availability before choosing. The Xbox one seems to have more options game wise than the ps4. Ds16 has the Xbox one and is very happy with it, and DH has the ps4, but is frustrated with game availability. Maybe it is because he is more of a rpg player than a shooter gamer. It depends on the type of games your child likes.

Another thing to keep in mind is that with the popular new games, they will start to be next-gen only releases. One example of the shift is Forza Horizon 2. A completely different developer worked on the Xbox 360 version, which is not up to par with the Xbox One version.

The next gen systems are so much more advanced and different than the old systems that game studios literally have to hire entire teams for each version. Because of this, I think the transition to next gen will occur a little faster than it did for the last jump.

You are so right. I can't believe the difference between the new systems compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3. The graphics on ps4 will almost hurt your eyes. Not being backwards compatible does frustrate me, though. I do wish i could pack up the older 2 systems, but we have way to many 360 and PS3 games to warrant that. I wish the Xbox one had originally come without the kinect also. That has yet to have been used. If ds16 was younger he probably would be more interested the kinect. Edited by Kim3498
