Southwest Airline Question

I'm not sure this is the right place to post this but here goes anyway: I need to buy tickets on Southwest for April school break. Right now tickets are only on sale only through the end of March.

Does anyone know when the next set of tickets are being released for sale? Any insider info would really help.

THANKS!

Wish I could help, but I can't. There's no telling with SWA. Maybe around the 1st of the year? Don't bother calling and asking either, been there done that.. The response I got was "we don't know either".

This was last year that I was looking for a flight for Christmas, and they were only selling through Dec 12 FOREVER. I think they finally updated early November, after I had already booked with American Airlines.

Good luck. (can't tell from reading this post, but I really do like SWA...LOL)

I'm signed up for their email notifications. Some weeks I get just one email, and other weeks I may get three or four. And sometimes their flights are REALLY on sale! Also, each week they have a "Featured Destination" which is basically on sale from any origination point. It's usually a bigger city, recently they featured San Diego and Phoenix.

UPDATE 12/20: Just got another email. This week's featured destination is San Diego.

Sheli, you should check some of the other travel sites and see if you can get a fare close to the sale price that you just missed. In addition to the ones that everybody uses (orbitz, travelocity, hotwire, etc.) try these...

cheap-airfare.com; sidestep.com; thelowestpricelist.com. Good Luck!

I also usually check www.cheaptickets.com . I've found cheap flights on there a few times. I often use Delta to Florida because there are direct flights from here and the price can beat Southwest a lot of the time. I really liked Delta Song with the tv's in the seats. It really helped to entertain the kids. I'm not sure if they went out of business, but they don't fly out of our local airports any more. I did check regular Delta for a flight around Thanksgiving and found great prices. Don't limit yourself to one particular airline unless you have a personal issue why you would want to.

Hi. This is my first post, but I'm a looooong time lurker here. SWA publishes fares for the three months following the current month. Here within about two weeks April fares will be published, unless something has changed. It's been a couple years since I flew SWA, but once did so regularly.

Why southwest. Most airlines charge about the same price and give better service. Anyway its not the price you should worry to much about this far in advance, its the number of seats. If it comes to a month away and they still have 40 open seats, then the price will come down. I would check the available seats, and keep watching prices until they start filling up. You might also put a bid in on priceline if you still have not bought your ticket by mid March and the plane still has several seats.

I definitely agree that waiting for airfares till closer to Spring Break time is NOT very smart. Everyone takes vacation during Easter break and almost everyone goes to Florida. The prices will definitely get worse. I also think JetBlue has some great deals if they fly out of your city. (they don't fly out of my city, Chicago).

Not much flies out of Portland Maine, so Southwest is only 2.5 hrs away and IF I had been on in time the cheapest fare would have been $59 or $79 each way. Since I need 8 tix this was the only way we could afford to go. $2550 for all of us is just too far out of my range. Nothing else cheap flies from here so it looks like we are going in July when it will be hotter than Hell and bad for my dads heart problems....BUT Thank You all again for the advice and I will be looking again closer to April and I will keep checking southwest.com. I never give up, I was just crushed that yesterday missing the announcement by 2 hours made such a huge difference.
