Does anyone have these things? My son really want one for Xmas and I really would like to get it for him because he's done so well in school, even won his Technology Fair Contest for out town.

But I cannot for the life of me find one, does anyone have any scoop as to who may have them or who may get some in before Christmas?

good question:idea: ....

try ebay ;)

Dont expect any until Dec 18. [whispers : thats when stores like BB get their second shipment] I'll keep you updated if the date changes.

Also..depending on where you live, some states have already had their second shipment last weekend. [Fri 2 - Sun 4]

Does he already have an Xbox (the original, not the 360)? If not, maybe you could go that route for now. I've seen them used for $100, the GameCrazy here even throws in 6 free rentals. All the top games will be backwards compatible with the Xbox 360, so no big worries there. Once the Xbox 360 has been out for a while, then you can get one. Getting an Xbox now, and an Xbox 360 a few months from now, will be quite a bit cheaper than buying an Xbox 360 right now on ebay. Plus, if your son is happy with the regular Xbox for now, then you can wait until the 360 drops in price.

That's what I'd do. I wouldn't pay $800+ for the 360, just for the privilege of having it now and to play a handful of games that are out for it now. Get the original Xbox, some games like Morrowind and Fable TLC (don't get the original Fable, make sure it's The Lost Chapters, do note that it's rated mature due to language but compared to many of the other games out there, it's not that bad), and you're all set.

Like everyone said- there will still be very few shipped before the holiday's. Still it will be extremely difficult to get one.

I'm thinking they'll be pretty easy to get right after Christmas too. I don't know how old your son is...but possibly a gift card for the amount of the X-Box 360 so he can buy it as soon as it's readily available.

PS3 is launching in March in JAPAN. Holiday 2006 for North America.

Also store like Best Buy and Walmart are getting shipments of XBox360 in, but they are holding them back for Dec. 18. They want to be able to advertise that they got them "in time for X-Mas." My wife's store has 22 systems sitting in the backroom and they are not allowed to sell them yet. I suggest camping on the 17th if you REALLY want one.

Last year I wanted to get my son the Delphi XM MyFi, but it was a very similar process to the 360 - they weren't available!! What I did was print out a picture of it and give it to him on Christmas and tell him that when it came in he would get it. I was really disappointed to not have it for him on Christmas Day, but he really didn't mind. He had other gifts, but that was his big one. It's just a thought - and maybe one that will save you some money!

Exactly. Sony did this with the release of the PS2, very few were released here and there before the holidays, then around Feb/March they began releasing more numbers of them to the stores.

Also, I know the graphics are one of the major selling points of the 360 (not an xbox or microsoft fan, so i haven't paid much attention to it). One of the people in line with us at BB on BF pointed out that the graphics are only that great on an HDTV.

These have VERY limited numbers. There was a post about this earlier.

And Microsoft has set guidelines for retailers. They cannot withold product once its street date has come. So if they wanted to, Microsoft could be all over WM for breach of contract. Believe me, there are plenty of places that would kill for those Xboxes.

Where did you hear this? Wal-Mart sets market guidelines, not the other way around!
