vanillamack Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Just got back home from CC in Sterling, VA. It was a nice, orderly line...I got there at 1AM eastern. I was about 30th. Some people had been there since 830PM ! About 3AM the CC people come out and start handing out maps of the store and photocopied 1-page flyers of the high profile items. People in line think they are handing out vouchers so everyone bunches up. When they realize they are not vouchers, the bunching subsides and the line re-forms. At 4AM, some d*uchebag from CC comes out and says there are No Vouchers and that it will be who ever get the items first. Immediately the entire line collapses with people climbing over the folding chairs the really-early birds had set up. There are now 100 people crammed in front of the doors with 1 hour to go. My first thought, is stampede and trampling. I waited in the bunched of group of people about 10 minutes then said screw it. Even if I did get a laptop, getting the router and printer and paying would be a disaster. Bottom line, CC took a FAIR and ORDERLY system and turned it into a pushing and shoving match. Nice job, Sterling, VA CC. Won't be shopping there again.
myebayadd Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 See if you can order the stuff you ant on line now after 5 am I see some stuff is available!
KhakiBoy Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 That sucks! I think there should be a law forcing stores to hand out tickets for the major doorbusters. It definitely makes things more orderly. That's what I like about my Best Buy. It's always well organized and very orderly.
mdcrim Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I live in this area and ALMOST froze my you-know-what's off waiting at the CC in Sterling. Decided against it and MAN am I glad I did. I hate getting in and out of that parking lot anyway! Think I'm going to order the Dell online or go to the Office Depot for my laptop...

Dural Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I also got screwed at CC. When I got there at 1am I was 11th in line, I knew they would only have 15 laptops so I was going to leave if more than 15 people were already there. At about 3am a bunch of people behind me were getting pissed because of people getting in line with others at the front. It turns out that there were people waiting in the car staying warm, it was 14 degrees without wind chill when I left, with only one person waiting so when it came time to hand out the vouchers I was 16th when they had 15.
BigNate Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Yeah, they need to do vouchers on stuff like that. It would make it alot better for the store anyways. I was in Staples and it wasnt too bad but there was alot of pushing and shoving. People were grabbing 2 or 3 hard drives even though you could only get one. One guy knocked one down and it landed hard on the ground. Rather then take the one he may have busted he just grabbed another and then shoved his way to the next thing.
KhakiBoy Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 so when it came time to hand out the vouchers I was 16th when they had 15. Man that would suck! That's why to some degree I don't think people should be able to hold places in line. At least if you were further back it wouldn't be so bad. But to be 1 away!
viper2ko Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 same thing happened to me, i ended up with nothing
