If it doesn't say that in the ad, you could go to the store and have them price match it and just fight them to get it for that price and without activation lol

Almost every phone requires activation...

That's the interesting part. Phones don't generally require that you sign a contract to buy them, only that you do if you want to get their super-low price. It's not often advertised, except sometimes in the fine print. If they advertise "x" amount without mentioning activation, I'm see no reason to believe it needs to be.

It mentions Instant savings of $249.99 and a $60.00 mail in rebate, with a regular price of $349.99.

BUT -- The phone is on thier website now along with the details of the rebate. The mail-in rebate requires new activation. So basically you'd pay $100 for the phone if you don't want to activate a plan as best I can tell.

BTW, I'm sure it's pure coincidence, but the phone is backordered and the rebate expires 11/26.

The ad came today and there is a footnote attached to all the prices. The footnote leads to a statement that says the $250 instant rebates only apply with 2-year activation. :( . Who ever thought of requiring new service with every phone you purchase. What if I just want a phone dammit. Sure its great when you first buy a phone, but who the hell wants to keep the same phone for two years...every six months there are major improvements.

Ugh -- well, I suppose being $300+ is probably right for not signing a contract. Too good to be true...

Well, I have cingular as it is, so I am just going to extend my service, which should work...if not this is the dumbest deal ever as 90% of americans that can afford cell phones already have one with service.

Uh... don't you think it costs them money to design and make the things? ;) If they sold them for $50 without requiring a 2 year commitment, they'd be losing money.
