tinkrbel Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Go to the dollar store buy them a $1 merry Christmas card thats it! Or find a Dollar Tree that sells them 2/$1
hillbillyswife Posted December 2, 2012 Author Posted December 2, 2012 Lol I love all your ideas Thank you all ....you made me smile and gave me a few ideas
Princess7915 Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Give her a pack of latex balloons. When she asks what it's for tell her "for all of your hot air" But seriously - I would get something fairly inexpensive that you can pass off as somewhat thoughtful to keep your hubby happy. I would not dwell or spend too much money on it as you know they will hate it and it's doom will be re-gift or trash. Do a joint gift rather than each one separately. Go a Donation in your name as others suggested. Or find something completely tacky that you can give them like some candle sticks that can be a little ha ha to yourself. OR you could be a bigger person and try a nice bottle of wine or something of the sort.
Rockfordmom Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 I don't understand why you HAVE to get someone a gift? WHO says your hospitality and cooking can't be your "gift" to them? Have the kids pick out an ornament or something little for them.
katkat777 Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Ugghh this sounds like my sister in law. One year I went out and found the ugliest stuff I could find. A makeup case that would make a stripper blush all blinged out and glitterized, a candle that smelled like poo.. Guess what..she loved it!! I thought figures..her taste matches her personality. Love the gas card idea..How about going to the thrift store and picking up one of those ugly christmas sweaters! I would just howl with laughter..tell them it's a gag gift....
katkat777 Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 OHHHH how bout one of those fake winning lotto tickets you can buy at Spencers? They will think they hit the jackpot!! Hahaha!!
tdanette Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 A box of microwave popcorn and the movie Scrooge.
speeddiva Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 a box of microwave popcorn and the movie scrooge. perfect!! ^^
mrscrafty Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 An etiquette book?! Seriously though. My son is making coasters out of tile for some of his teachers. Maybe your kids can make them some of those. If you google coasters made from tile it will give you the instructions. They are actually pretty neat because you can use whatever design or picture you want. Good luck!
leefamily23 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Curious what you got and how it went?? My MIL really topped herself this year. She openly said that she'd be re-gifting what we got her. I told dh on the way home, I was done. No money from our family budget will ever go towards buying her a gift again!
hillbillyswife Posted December 26, 2012 Author Posted December 26, 2012 I ended up buying a coat but they passed away Christmas Eve So they never got it and I really think they would have liked this one
heffer569 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Talk about ungrateful we got my husbands neices and nephews tablets on for each kid and there are 4 kids. Anyways they dropped them back at our house unopened with no explanation. They did read the cards however. My SIl is a real piece of work.
stevierocks Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 . However, I have gotten a used bathroom complete with stains and her cigarette burn holes as my Christmas gift--- wrapped up nicely though . I have also gotten socks that she removed the matching sock to each pair so I got only 1 sock.....not sure what that was about.i think your missing a word?a used bathroom???as for the socks she might have bought them that way...i saw a site selling 12 pairs of unmatched socks...they are in style i guess????but i think thats a new thing this year
