koehler
Does anyone know if this is worth purchasing? I currently have a 42" Big Screen that was purchased in 1992, so would like to replace with something comprable. Thanks for the help.
emptynest-2
This is a dlp projector that you would hang from the ceiling and projector onto a screen. It is a good price according to one of my local store dealer.
ean1879
Are these projectors good enought that you can use them for an every day tv? And what about their longevity?
sperdue
We sell this projector where I work, bundled with a screen for $1299.00 - $1499.00, so this is a great deal. Expected bulb life is up to 3000. It doesn't sound like much, but it really is unless you plan to run it all day every day. You can expect to pay $300 - $350 for the replacement bulb. koehler
Sperdue: How is does the quality of the High Def from the projector compare to an regular DLP television? Also, I know it will probalby work best with a screen...how much does the image quality lower if just using a wall? Thanks much.
BLKFRI
According to the research I've been doing on the Black Friday sale projectors, the Optima at CompUSA is also 1800 lumins. I have decided that the Optima is better suited for my needs. Most of what I am using is room brightness, and throw distance to create a 6x8 screen. The Infocus X1a isn't even in the running. zzxc
Before buying a single-chip DLP projector, make sure the rainbow effect doesn't affect you. If it does, the picture will be almost unwatchable. (3-chip DLP's are very expensive, and are used in digital movie theaters. They don't have a rainbow effect because they don't have a spinning color wheel)

Just remember you are projecting light, so a bright sunny room will make your picture look washed out. You lose a lot of quality on the wall. It still looks good, but no where near as good as on the screen. In case you don't have a screen in mind, here's somewhere that sells them: www.draperinc.com Hope that helps

emptynest-2
If buy the new DLP or LCD tv, do yourself a favor and purchase the extended warranty they cover the replacement lamps. I have seen this benefit your customers.
