Marcster Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Last year, my Grandfather's second wife wanted a complete computer set-up to replace her Windows 98 desktop. So, before BF, I bought her a laptop and case. In my mind, BF and laptop selection don't mix -- too crazy. Then on BF, I bought the Sony DSC-P72 digital camera, media card, media card reader, all-in-one printer (and USB cable) and plenty of photo paper. She doesn't get around as well as she used to (she lives in one of those assisted living complexes), and definitely wouldn't have wanted wait in those lines... She really appreciated it. And I saved her $270.00 in rebates! I do also offer every year to pick up stuff for my wife's cousin who always has to work, but he always turns me down... Who (if anyone) do you buy for?
alimfp Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I haven't in the past but I am willing to get a few items if people cannot go themselves.
bayhaysay Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Are you kidding me??? For the past few years every Thanksgiving after everyone is stuffed my family sits down to pour over the ads and to dole out the cash for everything they want me and my sister to pick up for them.
Steakgoddess Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I have only picked up something for my Mom once. But she usually shops herself.
cami_reardon Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I do all of my mom and my sister's Christmas shopping for my kids and grandkids. So I always pick up stuff for others. My MIL sometimes has a thing or two she wants as well. It makes for a long, harried day.
provresgrp Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I do, but why do people look at you so funny when you put 7 dvd players in your buggy? This year (so far) I'm picking up another dvd player and the HP laptop. Actually, the guy that wants the laptop lives 20 miles from me, and he's going to HIS walmart, and I'm going to mine, and whoever gets it first will call the other (just in case they sell out too quickly at the other store). I'm sure that list will build as more ads come out.
happysunshine28 Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Last year a friend wanted me to get her the tv sears had, she never pays me back so I didnt get one for her, but felt real bad about it. When I got back home I took her to town with her 2 kids and she never once said she wanted to get it. Im going to try to get the camera at walmart for my mom.
pcsoon Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I usually split stores with friends. A couple of us will goto bestbuy and pickup extra items. Others will pickup exta items at their stops. We all have are 1st stops. Its the only way to get in on most of the good bargains.:)

mrsbmb Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I havent had too yet but i sure would dread it if someone asked . especially for a giant item.. kathy
elena_398 Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Every BF my mom, sister, and I seperate. Each of us take a store. We give money and our list to that person. So we don't lose out on the doorbusters and don't have to tackle all the craziness in every store
Guest Deals4Me Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I have picked up things...but no one in particular each year...Random family and friends!
genoandkiddo Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 It all depends on whether they give me the cash. I did last year for my mom, but it was really little stuff.
Kandy Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I will pick up the stuff for a friend that works at walmart if I am in there before she gets off, so when she gets off all she has to do is run through the check out.
michelle_cols_oh Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 yep. my boss usually goes out of town so i will get a couple things for him for his kids. brownie points :-D if someone asks, i will pick something up for them if i know i'm going to that store.

You're just being considerate & nice. :)
Gporter34 Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Mom, aunt, and myself sit down and decide what each of want from different stores. Then we divide the stores. Mom and I go to some and she goes to the others. We get what she wants and she gets what we want. That is so much easier because there is no way we could make all of the stores if we didn't split them up. If any of us have out of town company who do not go to BF, we enlist them and split it up even more.lol
Marcster Posted October 24, 2005 Author Posted October 24, 2005 If any of us have out of town company who do not go to BF, we enlist them and split it up even more.lolI'm sure there are BF clubs where people really get organized and pick up stuff for eachother.
Tessangel Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Yep we divide and conquer! We usually make plan and give each other the money for what we want! It is so much easier that way but I am not sure this year since we moved away!
MaddynAllysMom02 Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I usually tell my sister and mom to make a list. LOL. My MIL always says shes going to have me do hers too, but she never has yet.............maybe this year. I dont usually mind getting things for other people, as long as they realize, if its gone, its gone.............
AuntJamelle Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I have never done this - no one has ever asked really. Of course, it someone did ask and I was going to right there at the store anyway I would be happy to help them out. :)
ChristmasShopping Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I pick things up for my sister and mom. My sister has little kids and it is too early for them to be out and my mom- well, she is my mom- so I do what she says! We sit down on Thanksgiving night and I make a list of all the things they want me to get and figure out my strategy.
gijimenez Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I don't its to much work and I already have so much on my own list.
destinyusa Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Yes. For my mom and aunt. They use to go out but can't do it anymore. So my daughter and I do all the BF shopping.
erh12275 Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Who has time? Seriously tho...if it was something they wanted that I knew was gonna be there AFTER I got my stuff then fine...otherwise...they better be gettin their butt up.
mrn8 Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 The only way that I do that is if we are shopping in a group and split up the stores. If they don't want to go BF shopping and want me to pick something up for them, I won't do it. If they want to wait in line at another store at 4am and help me out, too, I'm more than happy to pick something up.
SuperMommy Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Not to be mean, but I can barely get all done with all the shopping I want to get done. And most of the time come home without a few of the things I was hoping for b/c I wasn't able to get there in time.
lesliepear Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Yes, we have. Especially back in the days when they had free after rebate CD-ROM's!
