This year on my christmas to buy list is definately batteries. From "AAA" or D batteries. Am I the only one (I hope not) that buys all these great electronic gadgets and toys for people and forget batteries? For the last two years at christmas, I find such great toys and such and cannot wait for the kids to open them. Well christmas morning comes and they want to try them out, only to find I have no batteries in the house to do so! LOL. The kids can never understand why Santa brought toys that they cannot use until mom goes to the store! This year I will MAKE sure I stock up!

What I do is when I start wrapping, I write down how many batteries and size are needed. Then total everything up. Weeks later when Christmas is only a day away and most places are closed, I remember that I forgot to buy the batteries. So much for writing things down.

I guess a simple yes would have been suffient.

I buy batteries in bulk and as i am wrapping, either slide the batteries into the box or spend a few minutes (if you can) sliding the item out of its box and put the battery in. Not all items can you do this, but it sure saves some time on Christmas morning trying to get the batteries in or finding the right ones. We also try to assemble large items and just put a bow on it, instead of trying to do it Christmas morning when its chaotic. Of course, you need a place to hide the big gift, but each Christmas there are gifts that aren't wrapped, it really gets the kids going......

I add it to the grocery list as I bring stuff in from the van and buy specifically on the next trip. I normally keep a lot of AA around for all the toys/games but it never fails that I buy something that needs AAA or a combination of sizes or something!

We use rechargables in almost everything (even some toys that say not too.. heh). They are expensive at first, BUT so worth it over the long run. Double A's that we put into our digital cameras, we bought them 4-5 years ago and they are just now no longer holding a charge.

thats a great idea.. i usually buy a ton at joblot they always have 6 packs for .99 of rayovac batteries, big lots cheap too. And i have never had trouble with them.. but i did buy some at a dollar outlet store and they stunk.. lasted about three songs in the cd player. everytime i go from now til then i will pick up one or two packs.. notice the big demand is for the double and triple A batteries these days? it used to be D and C's were the ones you need the most. kathy

I just buy rechargeables now, definitely worth the initial extra cost.

BTW, last Friday, Target had a 4 pack of Kodak rechargeables at 50% for only 4.99. They also had the charging unit for anyone who needs that at 50%, don't remember the price exactly, but I believe 19.99 marked down to 9.99. They were on an end cap in the electronics department, and had several packages.
