Spotted1
What's the difference between a Toys R Us Express store and a regular Toys R Us? I noticed on the Toys R Us websites store locator that there's an "Express" store that's opened up recently closer to home, but I have no idea if a Toys R Us Express would have everything or if it's just a watered down version of the store. Anyone able to tell me the difference?
starbeck96
The TRU Express is smaller. I really don't know if their is any other difference though. One opened a month ago in a nearby town, but I've only been in there once. As far as I could tell the prices were pretty much the same, but the store is a good bit smaller. riven3d
its just Toys, its like Kaybee toys, small store with nothing but toys and some video games.
christy1211
One just opened by me. They don't carry much, but if they carry what's in an ad, then they offer those sales. Video game selection is small, nothing over $19.99 and no consoles (DS, etc). They don't carry the big Lego sets for example or anything really that $$, mostly cheaper items. They won't take TRU returns, but you can return Express to TRU. Still nice to have in town though. :)
tinkrbel
They opened one here a while ago and it was small with not a lot. They had a sale going on as they had recently opened but nothing FAB. I considered a dump truck or tractor for 4.99 but forgot to ask BF if she thought it'd be ok and never went back.
Spotted1
Hm. Thanks. The only thing I'm really looking for from the toybook was the Skelanimals, which I would think they should have. It's still 2 hours away to the Express store, but that's better than 3 hours and crossing state lines to get to the other one.
Gator Pam
Call the Express store and ask? Two hours each way is still quite a haul.

The one that opened near me had lots of action figures(not sure which) and stuff some art sets and not much else. Maybe all express aren't as small as this one but it's definitely not worth a 2 hour drive to maybe have something.

The money you will spend on gas will probably be way less then the shipping...

I know they have the items she wants online (the Skelanimals digital camera and mp3 player) but I don't know if the sale from the ad (free skelanimals hat/gloves with $25 purchase) qualifies with an online purchase. I'll probably call them to find out for certain if they have the Skelanimals stuff, but its not a big deal if they don't. I'll end up in that town before it's all said and done anyway since that's the only town with a mall this side of the state line. :)
Tigger97498
Does anyone have any experience with the Toys R Us Express stores on Black Friday and know if they honor the Toys R Us Black Friday ad?
rebecca7675
When I went to one in the mall last year they honored the ad IF they had the toy. About 3 of the things I needed they did not carry the item in the express stores only the regular TRU. You may want to check it out before. Elmck
this is the first year we have had the TRU express in the mall. but I would assume that is why they have them, and they seem to honor the other ads. However they don't carry all the items a normal store carrys. I would call and ask your local store.
angelbabymommy
Yes, they do honor the BF Ad, but as a PP stated, sometimes (since it is a smaller) they don't have everything, so check out the one you plan to go to before BF. I went to an express store in BRU last year, to grab a few things and it was pretty well stocked, I went to a diff one (in another state) that was inside of a mall and it wasn't all that great, they hardly carried anything, I was kind of disappointed.
