just got this:

Good Morning GottaDeal Folks,

My name is Darcy Lee, Promotions Manager for Ace Hardware Corporation. I'm writing, again this year, to tell you to refrain from posting any unauthorized version of the Ace Hardware Black Friday event. As with past years, we will be happy to provide you with a final version no later than 11/19/2010. Thank you for your cooperation. Please give me a call with any questions or concerns.

Have a great day,

Darcy Lee

Another sign that we're getting oh so close the the big day! It must be floating around out there somewhere...

I have a feeling some type of ad will be leaked very soon. I wish it would be Target. lol

Dear Darcy Lee,

What will we do until November 19 without your ad? It is one of the most highly anticipated ads on our website! I know that I, myself, am already camping out at an Ace Hardware store to ensure that I am the first one in line at Ace Hardware.

Thank you,

I love this! We should all e-mail Darcy Lee something along this line :)

Despite this message, Ace is still better than other retailers who shall remain nameless.

This thing with Ace started a few years ago when we posted their ad in August and it ended up being a preliminary version and some items were changed for the final version. Ever since then they've asked us to not post it early with the agreement that they will send us a final copy as soon as it's ready which they have done the last few years as promised.

I don't remember them ever sending a firm legal request from a lawyer, but I think they are being fair in asking us to wait until they have it finalized. As long as we post it at least a week before BF, it gives everyone plenty of time to look at the ad and do whatever research is needed.

Our ACE Hardware has the best kept secret here in Anchorage: there's a post office inside, with NO LINES, even during the holiday season! Because of this, I always end up buying stuff from there after I've dropped off packages. I can't wait to see their ad for this year!

ok maybe i am a bit confused but around here i am pretty sure that ace and true value hardware are the same store???

They are both hardware cooperatives based out of IL, but they are different companies.

The Ace I frequent has pretty much everything you could need. Plus they have George who knows what pipe, nuts, bolts or whatever you need to get it done.

Exactly! they understand that experts are the key to return customers, not doe-eyed teens without a clue....

I live in a small (8000 people) town and we have an AWESOME Ace store. We have a brand new WM store, and we find what we need at Ace more than we do at WM. Plus they have a great rewards card that you get gift cards after spending so much there. Last year after BF, we had spent enough there that we got a $5 gift card in January. I know it doesn't seem like a ton, but it's enough to get you back in the store! They also have Craftsman tools in the store now too. If you haven't been in one lately, check it out!

I love the ACE store around me!!! I don't have a George in mine, but I guess it's a close relative that knows his stuff and is sure you're comfortable with your project before you leave.
