Brad Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 As always, we have several dedicated threads for the hotter items each Black Friday. Please try to keep all discussion related to these items in their official threads. Other threads posted will likely be merged into this main thread.
twilightcalm Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 (edited) How do you think the release of the new slim 250 gb w/wifi XBOX will help out on BF? I read that they stopped making the Arcade and Elite versions so there should be some stock left to get rid of. Do you think maybe we could be seeing "Super Bundles" like the one last year at Best Buy w/6 games for $299? My 2 Boys are old enough for one this year 11,13 ( I always felt that system was for older children) Any gamers out there with some inside knowledge? Edited September 6, 2010 by twilightcalm
starbeck96 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I don't have any insider knowlege or anything..but I really hope that they have a good deal on them. My boys are wanting one. They are 12. I agree with you that I have always felt that it was for older kids. I hope they have a deal at Walmart or Target bc I know I will never get one at Best Buy. I can't go camp out..lol.
stationchief Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 If I remember correctly from previous years, they usually keep the same prices out the door but they either throw in a gift card of a handful of games/accessories with it. Superbuldles are common and very likely. But I sure hope ya bring your campin' gear.
Rockfordmom Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I think stationchief is correct, they usually are the same price but they come with gift cards or games & accessories.
starbeck96 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 YEah Walmart had them last year in a pre-sale for 199 w/a 100 gift card. I hope to find a deal like that this year.
eileenrich Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I am hoping for the same deal as starbeck96! So far they have a deal for the Xbox 360 with a free game (you chose title), 3 month live card, console and suggested accessory for 249.00 on Walmart online. Not bad, but the Halo Reach game is a better deal for 59.00 and you get a WalMart gift card worth 20.00! That is one deal I am picking now and putting away! I will use the 20.00 on Black Friday!!
starbeck96 Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I do not know anything about the Xbox 360. My boys are really just old enough for one. They are 12 and I know that Xbox has always had titles for older kids. But there have been a few games that they have seen on TV or instore that they said they want and it is only for the Xbox 360. Can anyone suggest some good games for that age?
twilightcalm Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 (edited) It's so hard with the violence and maturity level of all the games. That's why we waited to try the Xbox system. My guys love the racing, Madden, and martial arts games. We always have them adjust the gore level so it doesn't look like a big bloodbath. We are going to try Halo and the Call of duty series. My brother can play these with them. I guess it all depends on your kids maturity level. My soon to be 13 yr old(10/19) is very mature but the soon to be 12yr(1/13) old isn't. He likes anything Marvel comics. I have picked up the world tour band kit and a Dj hero set. I also have been browsing Amazon and Gamestop for used titles. The newer titles are so high. I'm thinking a gift card so they can pick 1 new title themselves and whatever else we have gathered by then. Hopefully there will be some good game buys on BF. starbeck96 Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 My boys are fairly mature in most areas. We don't allow certain violent games or movies in our house. Now, war games are fine and things of that nature. My only concern is the language and sexual content in games. I was looking at titles for the Xbox 360 and noticed that a good portion of them are rated mature. The boys have one of the Call of Duty games for the PS2 and they love Madden and College Football. We may just stick with our PS2 and Wii and just get some more games, especially for the Wii.
Cblaramore Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I saw that Walmart has 'rolled back' the price on the DSI so I wonder what you guys think, will they offer the DS for cheaper (than the $129 it is now) on BF?
stationchief Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 The prices of the DS/DSi's went down everywhere. Don't think it'll go down any more this year, but expect some big freebies with it for the same price on BF, like a giant pack of games/accessories or a gift card.
Cblaramore Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 The DS is still $129 at Walmart. Just the DSI went down. Is it cheaper than that somewhere else?
doublehsmom Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I just looked up what I paid for ds dsi last year on black friday and it was 130 it has games with it and also I think that I got a 5 or 10 gc with it as well.
riven3d Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Walmart sold the DS last year for $97 on BF
stationchief Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Looked back at last year's sales and it does look like the DS Lite core system was $98 at Walmart. There were bundles at $129 for the Lite and $149-169 for the DSi. We may see the DS Lite core system again (no accessories or games included) for the sub-$100 range. The bundles will probably be the same price as the core systems are now but with accessories /games or the ever infamous gift card.
starbeck96 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I would love to see a DS go down in price or at least offer a great gift card deal. It would be nice to see a 100.00 DS and a 50.00 gift card...lol. Hey a girl can dream can't she...lol. If that did happen I would definitely get my dd one. Use the gift card for a cheaper game and then use the rest of it for another gift for her.
Jen8112 Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Yes, last year the DS "Lite" was $97 at Walmart (they were the older colors). I think it will be at least that this year because since the DS Lite came out there has been the DSi and the DSi XL and soon there will be a 3DS. DS Lite should keep going down until they stop making it. I doubt it will get too much below $100 though.
JohnnyLaRue Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 You can get one here for cheap. Though the exchange rate + shipping it comes out to about $100 USD
rjncmj Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 My husband and I sat in the trampoline line all night at WM last BF. We were directly across from the $97 DS display and watched them go one by one. They were gone by 5am. People were coming in at 5am on the dot and asking about them and shown an empty display. So sad that those that slept in until 4ish am missed out. There was a ton of them too...
gemini1567 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I know I purchased the DS Lite for $99 last September from Target, so I think with the DsXL out on the market now & the DS3d about to hit the scene, that there is a very good chance that both the DS Lite & the DSi will go cheaper for BF
Danigirl55 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I honestly think it's going to be 90 dollars this bf at walmart I can't wait I'm so excited
Cblaramore Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I honestly think it's going to be 90 dollars this bf at walmart I can't wait I'm so excitedI'm super excited too!!! It would be great if they would even do it for the price last year. I keep hoping that or less since they have all the newer versions. But I think this is the best for my little girl right now. Thanks guys for all your posts!
mcwalker Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I got a DSi bundle with games last year at Target: $169.99 with $20 gift card AND additional $10 gift card with $100 purchase. (I think the latter was actually $10 for every $100 spent, but can't remember.) Again, expect the gift cards and extra discounts to be the main opportunity this BF compared to current prices.
Kash Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 They went down in price because of the new 3DS that is coming out in Nov. However, one of our kids just traded his DS Lite I got him last Christmas in at Gamestop and got a $60 credit towards a DSI or a DSI XL :) So price drop, plus $60 credit made it a great deal!

I have been told by my local Gamestop manager that it is released in Japan in November, and in US in March or April of next year. Totally bummed about that. DS12 is really wanting one. Yeah, I would definately say with the new one coming out that you will be able to get a great deal on a DS Lite on BF this year. We bought DS Lites last year and stood in line starting at midnight at our local Walmart. They went really fast, so get there early, early, early. But then again, that is all the fun in BF shopping isn't it.

Either way, I agree there should be some good deals on the DS Lites, DSI's and DSI XL's this year :)

I've heard mixed stories about the release date as well. Nintendo is suppose to announce the exact release date late this month. Thanks for the info. Maybe I will call our local TRU tomorrow to see what they say.
honey_bee_1979 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Walmart sold the DS last year for $97 on BF This I got my sons for 98$ last year! DS Lite Blue
JohnnyLaRue Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 It's November for Japan. I was told by the Japanese game store they won't be selling any to non residents and they require proof of residency. If that is the case then it sounds like it won't be out in The States till later as why the requirements? Or they just want to make sure residents (who frequent the store more often than some tourist) get a 3DS first
