wii accessories?( so confused!)

Recommended Posts

Okay, I was able to get a wii this year, and now I'm So confused! LOL

I do not know ANYthing about a wii( except that our kids want one)

Anyhow, the wii came with one remote and numchuck( i think thats what they are called)

And we also got the wii fit plus board. SOOOOOO

my question is, what else do i need?

there are batteries in the wii fit plus box. I never even thought about what it ran on. So do you recharge the batteries? or can you plug up the board some how? ( we havent gotten everything out yet, just took a peek in the boxes.

And the wii remotes, they take batteries. I have been looking at charging stations for them. But some of the charging stations look like they also run on batteries? I'm so confused and out of the loop! I want to make sure i have everything that i need so that they can play it once they get it. I looked at this one on amazon, but does it run on batteries? or does it plug up to recharge the remotes?http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TU4PDE/ref=s9_simp_gw_s0_p63_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1B5TMTDV84DPJ1BP60CF&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846

also do we need a cooling fan? I havent found anything to recharge the fit board yet? what do i look for? thanks SOOO much in advance for any and all help that anyone can give me!

I don't have any idea about all the battery stuff... I just yell for DH when something isn't working and he replaces batteries and what not.

I think the Wii is plugged in, the nunchuck needs no batteries (runs of Wiimote batteries???) and the Wiimotes run on AA batteries. We have some charging station that came with rechargeable battery packs, but to be honest, I don't even know where it is right now. The charging station was definately plugged in though because I remember tripping over the cord once.

I do want to recommend, however, that you get at least one more Wiimote and nunchuck, so 2 people can play together. We bought WiiPlay, which is about $50 and includes a game and a Wiimote. The game has a few fun arcade like games... one you shoot clay discs, balloons, ducks, etc. and its fun! The games on WiiPlay help you become more familiar with the Wii controls.

HTH and hopefully someone who knows more than me will post something for you!

We have a Wii (which broke and quit reading the discs after 2 1/2 years). We are getting another one for Christmas. We use rechargeable batteries on our wiimotes. We have 4 wiimotes. It's fun for the 2 kids and dh and myself to play games together. You can use any type of rechargeable battiers that are AA. We have a couple of extra sets so when the ones in the wiimote run out, we have fresh ones handy. We have 2 sets of 15 min. batteries, like these: http://www.amazon.com/Rayovac-Minute-Rechargeable-Batteries-batteries/dp/B0000A1OFV/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1260136550&sr=8-1

I just use a regular batteries on the balance board. They last a pretty long time in the balance board.

I wonder about getting a charge station or an induction charger where you just lay the remote on it and it charges. I'm curious if anyone other there can add feedback about either of these.

We've had are Wii for about 3 years.Got it when it first came out and i can tell you from experince that you NEED rechargeable batteries. We play ours all the time and there is nothig worse than when the battries die in the middle of a game and you have to start all over. There are several versions you can.I got mine off ebay for $20 and it charges two remotes at a time.It plugs into the Wii via USB cord(included) and charges that way.The Wii does have to be on for this one.You can buy a charging station that plugs into the wall to charge also.

Like above poster said you do need another set of remotes.Walmart does have a special now for $50 but it seems to be OOS for now.

As far as the Wii fit another item i got rechargeables for.It was $19.99 and its actually a adapter that plugs into the Wii fit and into the wall.I will post some links below for you.

HTH.

Yes I second you getting another wiimote and nunchuk. Depending on how many kids you have you may want to get more. We have 4 in all and use a charging station that came with the rechargeable batteries. We have had our Wii since it came out in 2006 and I now have to get another charging station since one seems to not be working.

Wii Play is a good way of getting a game and wiimote for one price. Something you can also look into is getting a wiipoints card. It is usually 2000 points for $20. That can be used to purchase and download games directly from Nintendo.com. You also would need a memory card. THere are some old games from previous systems on there that you can get. I usually am able to download 3 - 4 games for one card.

We've had ours one year and have only replaced batteries once. My ds12 is on it all the time. If you had a gamecube, the controllers work too, we only have one remote and my son uses the gamecube controllers when grandkids come over to play those types of games. Balance board also has only been changed once last week. Extra's would be nice, but not required. I bought the wii sports accessory pack last week ebay deal of the day because my son said it's hard to do tennis and baseball without them.

Our must haves were an extra remote and nunchuck. The charging base for the remotes and the rechargeable battery for the wii fit. If I remember correctly you charge it by plugging into the back of the wii unit. Its been a while since we've had to charge it

Thank you SO very much to EVERYone! I was so lost. lol

So we went ahead and bought the wii play that comes with the extra remote, so that they both can play together. We will have to get more controllers in the future. Man those things sure are high!

As far as all the battery stuff goes, I realy want to thank yall. After reading everything and looking around some more, atleast now I know what to look for.

I'm going to get some extra rechargable batteries. And try and find a charging station for the remotes that will plug into the wall, and also something to recharge the fit plus board that will plug into the wall. ( if anyone has a link, or has seen a good deal please let me know)

I have come accross the ones that plug into the usb place on the wii, but I would be afraid that it would burn the wii up keeping it on for so long.

Thanks again to everyone for all the help.

One more question, everyone that has the wii, and the wii board.. Do you all enjoy it? People look funny playing but I don't know if any of the games are fun.

You'll still need one more nunchuck- many games require them to play and you can't share. We are a family of 4, and we only have 2 remotes/nunchucks, because most games have you take turns and you can share.

In order for all of us to play Mario Kart, we do need 4 controllers, but we use our gamecube controllers. It is MUCH easier and we all fight over who gets them. You can still buy gamecube controllers and you might be able to pick up a couple of used ones on ebay for just a few dollars.

You don't really need the Wii Points card, as you can buy points online with your wii.

Does anyone have this Charger? I think this is what we would want, as it holds 2 remotes, and I think it also plugs into the wall to charge. ( which is what we want)http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Energizer-2x-Charge-Station-Nintendo/dp/B001VIKNWU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1260198578&sr=8-1

I think walmart has these, I'd rather get it from Amazon, but it says it wouldnt ship untill after christmas.

Also one other question. When buying another nunchuk, ( or realy anything for the wii) does it need to be made by the wii company, or does the generic ones work just as well? Anyone know? Again thanks!

I have four kids so I upgraded to the remote charger that you can drop all four onto. I picked up a charger for the balance board at TRU that plugs into the wall. As far as the remote charger I have seen them at Walmart,RadioShack, and Kmart, just to name a few..plugs into wall also.

I've also had a Wii since it was released. You shouldn't need a cooling fan unless you aren't going to have it in a well-ventilated area (which all electronics should be).

You'll probably want to pick up all 4 Wii-motes (one comes with the system), 2 nunchuks (one comes with the system). If you want to play the "classic" downloaded games, you could pick up a classic controller or simply use the wii-mote or an existing GameCube controller. If you have/had a GameCube, you can play those games on the Wii as well with the use of the GC controllers.

I use Energizer rechargeable batteries in my wii-motes. I believe it cost around $15 way back when for the batteries and the wall charger. IMO, it's great because the batteries can be used for other electronics if need be. I've only used the regular batteries that came with the balance board since I got it, which was also when it was released. When they need to be replaced, I'll just put another set of regular or rechargeable batteries in it. I haven't yet seen the wall charger for it that another poster mentioned, but I personally wouldn't want a cord in the way while using the balance board.
